Winter is fast approaching - so you know what time it is…

The picture above was last year’s bulk.  Now that I comfortably walk around at 170 lbs, this year’s bulk should take me up to 175 -178 lbs.

There are two styles of bulking that I often hear about, both of which have valid points.

One is that muscle growth can only happen so fast for experienced lifters, and trying to put on more than say ~2 lbs of muscle a month leads to excess fat gain. So limiting your calorie surplus to 200-300 calories per day is appropriate.

Another approach is that we want to support muscle growth to the fullest, even if comes with slightly higher levels of body fat. This would use a higher calorie surplus of 300-500 calories per day.

The second method has a couple of benefits. One is if you miscalculate or mistrack your food intake, you don’t risk wasting time on your bulk by not eating enough.

Also, losing fat is a faster process than building muscle, so losing a bit of excess body fat later is less of a concern than maximizing muscle growth now.

Squats were lit today. Last set, 5x100kgs beltless slow eccentric paused squats with dangling weights. It's for balance mainly, should you want to ask :) Also did block pulls but since I'm a pussy I didn't get all my reps with 137,5 beltless for tempo reps. I suck. Maybe it was all caused by me breaking a nail after my first set. Did hit another PB on narrow grip bench. That was fun. Now I'm going to drink wine.

So recently @mikefituk posted about how the preacher bench does bits for his arms and I've got to say I'm not remotely jealous 🙄. I guess it just highlights the individual nature of training and how it's about finding the equipment which suits you best (even if its for the purpose of being a vain bastard).

Orange Chicken Meatballs - Makes 4 servings⠀

Ingredients:⠀
MEATBALLS:⠀
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil⠀
¼ cup shredded carrots (roughly chopped)⠀
¼ cup finely chopped green beans⠀
¼ cup shredded cabbage (roughly chopped)⠀
1 pound ground chicken⠀
1 egg⠀
1/4 cup almond meal⠀
1 tablespoon coconut flour⠀
2 teaspoons garlic powder⠀
1 teaspoon ground ginger⠀
1 teaspoons salt⠀
1/2 teaspoon pepper⠀
ORANGE SAUCE:⠀
1 cup orange juice⠀
¼ cup apple cider vinegar⠀
½ cup coconut aminos⠀
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder⠀
½ teaspoon ground ginger⠀
1 pitted date, soaked in hot water to soften⠀
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder + 2 tablespoons cold water (combined)⠀ ⠀

Directions:⠀
PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees. ⠀
PLACE a small skillet over medium high heat and add in sesame oil. ⠀
ADD in carrots, green beans and cabbage and cook down just until softened, about 3 minutes. REMOVE from heat and set aside.⠀
IN a medium bowl combine ground chicken, egg, almond meal, coconut flour, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt and pepper. ⠀
THEN add in the veggie mixture and stir until combined.⠀
LINE a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop chicken into balls on the pan. ⠀
USE a cookie or ice cream scoop to do this as the mixture will be too moist to roll in your hands. (It makes 12 balls)⠀
BAKE for about 18 minutes or until cooked through.⠀
WHILE meatballs are in the oven, combine orange juice, apple cider vinegar, coconut aminos, garlic powder, ground ginger and the date in a blender and blend on high until the date breaks down.⠀
POWDER the sauce mixture into a medium skillet over medium high heat and bring to a boil.⠀
ONCE it is boiling, add in arrowroot & water mixture while whisking vigorously to combine. This will thicken the sauce. Lower the heat.⠀
ONCE meatballs are done, transfer them from the baking sheet to the pan and coat them with the sauce.

How crazy is this???? I like many other men and women was so afraid to admit my starting weight, or inches for fear of being judged😣! Как то раз, с клиенткой, на тренировке, коснулись такой темы, чтобы было бы с пищевой промышленностью и в целом с продуктами питания, если бы в школьной программе добавили разделы нутрициологии и диетологии?
Действительно, почему столь важные темы не изучается в школе?🤔
Взрослые твердят детям, что шоколад и чипсы это плохо, а сами хавают сосиски с колбасой.
Если бы хоть часть нутрициологии познавалась с детства, то в дальнейшем, уже и у взрослого человека было бы сформировано представление о влияние продуктов питания на организм и был бы сознательный подход к планированию и выбору продуктов. Решилось бы много вопросов со здоровьем и даже удалось бы избежать психологических проблем связанных с лишним весом.
Но кому это выгодно? Ни людям из сфер пищевой промышленности и продуктов питания, ни людям из сфер медицины и фитнеса, ни самим диетологам и нутрициологам.
Встает вопрос - это глобальный пищевой заговор👁 или упущение в системе образования?
