EASY WAYS TO SAVE CALS IN YOUR STIR FRY

On the left:
🔹2 tsp oil for cooking
🔹1Tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
🔹280g Chicken (1 medium breast)
🔹1 cup Brown Rice
🔹Half the amount of Veg (1/4 red capsicum, 1/2 small carrot, 1 Medium Mushroom, 2 pieces Broccolini)
🔹2 tsp Soy sauce, 2 tsp Oyster sauce, 2 tsp Lime Juice

Healthy Swaps on the Right:
🔸No oil for cooking (you can use water or the sauce instead)

When it’s colder than cold and I’m knee deep in final papers, there’s nothing more comforting than a cozy corner of a coffee shop to hole up in. Especially if said coffee shop is home to some mood-lifting plants and also serves delicious wellness lattes (think matcha, beet, and, duh, golden…)

Chickpea sprouts!! How cute are these little guys? 
It's my mission to get the kids involved more in the kitchen this school holidays, and what better way than growing your own sprouts! I'm pretty impressed with how they turned out (secretly I wasn't actually sure they would grow 😂). Sprouting seeds increases their nutritional content, so looking forward to using these in some salads. 
We are definitely not always this good though, so I'm grateful for our wholefood nutrition support especially on days we fall short, like this crazy busy Christmas period!! 🎅🌲 Who else wishes they had more time to dedicate to eating better, and doing things like sprouting your own seeds/legumes?

Depending on your relationships, consider asking whoever is preparing the meal to avoid using certain ingredients that would be challenging for you to pick out such as sugar, corn and soy, which are hidden in nearly everything.⠀ .⠀
For staff parties at restaurants, call the restaurant ahead of time and share the foods you are avoiding and ask how they can best accommodate.⠀

Most kids love pizza - but they don't always go for vegetable toppings! 😉 So I decided to create a pizza for my kids that had veggies in the base - and I found that it worked amazingly well with sweet potato.  This is definitely a recipe that even the fussiest of little eaters will enjoy.

Oven-roasted shrimp is simple + delicious, a perfect quick dinner or crowd-pleasing appetizer! Try @gfreefoodie 's Curry Roasted Shrimp recipe with the fresh peeled & deveined shrimp in the #WholeFoods seafood case.
Ingredients
2 lbs raw shrimp,  26-30 count peeled and deveined
2-3 tablespoons olive oil or melted coconut oil
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 tablespoon coconut sugar
3 limes, sliced
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl, toss the shrimp, curry powder blend, coconut sugar and lime slices with 2 tablespoons of the oil and the salt & pepper.
Arrange the shrimp in 1 layer on a rimmed sheet pan, ensuring that the lime slices are spread evenly throughout. Roast for 8 minutes, just until pink, firm and cooked through. .

Finally got an early start to my day and it felt amazing! Woke up at 6:30, took a shower that I wished was (a lot) warmer, made breakfast and lunch for the day, and went to the dog park with my lil man. The sun came out and made the frosted grass glisten. It was a glorious morning. 💛

When it’s colder than cold and I’m knee deep in final papers, there’s nothing more comforting than a cozy corner of a coffee shop to hole up in. Especially if said coffee shop is home to some mood-lifting plants and also serves delicious wellness lattes (think matcha, beet, and, duh, golden…)

Normally, I’m not a big fan of coffee shops that are chains, because I often find that they lack character, but @bluestonelanecoffee is one of my go-to’s for a cozy spot near campus and a really delicious golden latte. DEC. 1, 2017, my LOWEST, EVER blood glucose test!!! The serpentina & moringa i have been using, along with the Whole Foods, Plant Based way of life are POWERFUL!!! I need to monitor my BP just as closely, if not clossr than my BG, since I have sleep apnea. Many people are unaware as to how serious sleep apnea is. It can actually take your pre-diabetic status over into disbetic. The lack of constant & regular oxygen flow to your brain, heart & body can do that. Many doctors believe that losing weight can help, and losing 30+lbs has helped, but I have a number of factors working against me, such as the anatomy of my neck & deviated septum. Eventually, a c-pap machine will help & ulitmately reduce my blood pressure mych more, even if I were perfdctly healthy, exercised & lost more weight. For now, I am super happy with these results!!!

Party season is in full swing 🎅 and these would be great to bring along on a share plate with something delicious like a Beetroot Hummus and a range of fresh veggie sticks. 
Just because it's silly season doesn't mean you need to be eating silly!! These babies are gluten and grain free, and vegan, so perfect to snack on without feeling blah afterwards. Super easy to make too, the kids can do it!

Zutaten Mandelsauce *3 El Sojajoghurt Mandel *1 El Mandelmus *2 TL Pflanzenmilch * 1 Tl Ahornsirup * etwas Zimt 
Zubereitung:
-alle Zutaten für den Teig zusammen rühren -falls der Teig zu fest sein sollte: mehr Wasser oder Pflanzenmilch 
Sollte er zu flüssig sein:mehr Mehl -in einer Pfanne mit Kokosöl ausbacken -die Zutaten für die Sauce miteinander verrühren und über die fertigen Pancakes geben

* 250g spelled flour
*2 tsp of baking soda
* 4 tbsp natural apple juice
* 5 El vegetable milk
*Mineral water
* 1 poppy seed
* 2 tbsp of maple syrup
* 2 tbsp of agave syrup
* Coconut oil for baking

* 3 tbsp soy yogurt almond
* 1 tbsp almond cream
* 2 tsp vegetable milk
* 1 tbsp maple syrup
* some cinnamon
Preparation:
- Mix all ingredients for the dough together
if the dough is too firm: more water or vegetable milk
Should it be too liquid: more flour
- fry in a pan with coconut oil
- Mix the ingredients for the sauce together and pour over the finished pancakes

We’ve got #whole30approved Zuppa Toscana on repeat in our house. It’s been real cold this week and I’ve been craving it like crazy!! It’s so delicious! If you haven’t tried it, you should!! This time I found a spicy pork sausage that was compliant to use!! It’s so good with spicy sausage! 😍 While I was grocery shopping, I was again reminded of how hard it is to find compliant Chicken broth. It makes no sense to me. 🙄 Gotta hit up Costco for a whole box of it like I did! A friend recently told me "No one deserves to live heartbroken." That hit me in my heart and soul. It took me back to a time where I was very broken. My relationship with myself was non-existent. I didn't like looking in the mirror, I wasn't comfortable in my own skin, I always tried to be like other people that I looked up to and admired. I tried to be someone else to fit in. I sought out love from others rather than myself.

At the end of the day, I still felt empty. I still didn't like who I was. I didn't know self-love was a quality to have let alone existed. But then I heard the term and I knew immediately this was something I needed to dive into.

This was what I've been lacking. This was the key to everything I've been seeking for.

Self-love is one of the most challenging journeys to embark on. But I promise you it is the best and most rewarding thing you can ever do for yourself.

Where can you start?
Start by telling yourself "I love you." Look in the mirror, and say it to yourself. Out loud.

It's going to feel weird, fake, and phony. But I promise you - it will begin to feel real.

When the temperatures drop, I can’t go outside to grill our meat. I am a sissy. BUT I can still do easy meat and vegetables in one clean sweep. After I cooked chicken breasts dredged in cassava flour (@ottos_cassava_flour ) in a cast iron skillet on the stove, I threw in some vegetables (to the same pan with all the juices and crispy’s😋), it’s the perfect built in seasoning for sautéed veggies and it’s only one pan to clean. Going grain, gluten & dairy free didn't mean I wanted to go pancake free too lol. I have made homemade Paleo pancakes and have always, always messed them up lol. These pancakes are @birchbenders AND they are also at Costco. 
They're super easy to make (you just add water) and they taste really good. No joke. And they're fluffy, which all pancakes should be if they can 🤣

But seriously- I like to approach nutrition with balance. Eat nourishing, clean foods 80-90% of the time, but still enjoy 10-20% treats! And when I know that life's going to tip that 10-20% higher, I like to be that little bit cleaner before and after. Xmas is the perfect example, we do our 24 day challenge before and feel awesome for it! It's not even about weight loss (not missing those 3 kgs though!😂) it's just keeping things in BALANCE. ⚖

And yet, I’ve always loved the concept so I’ve lightened mine up, substituting good beef stock for a substantial portion of the dairy. I always add some chopped dill pickle and serve it over noodles, in this case, gluten-free tagliatelle.

Chanukah has not gotten as commercialized as Christmas, but, just like Christmas, it is a time to celebrate family, friends and the joy of life.  And, of coarse, the food.  You probably know by now that I love the food.

Tonight, I am cooking up some potato latkes with all the fixings (check out my IG Stories for some play-by-play). We will sing the one Chanukah song that I know and light our candles, followed by Stella opening her one gift.

Gifts are funny things. They actually give me a lot of anxiety.  I don't want to be a "stuff" household, I like gifts that are practical, meaningful or are an experience.
▫️
Practical | Socks & Underwear... This year Stella is getting 8 nights of socks and underwear for Chanukah.  She is still at the age where those are super awesome cook gifts with fun colors and her favorite characters.
▫️
Meaningful | Last year, Stella's Grandma gave her a small jewelry box with a quote on the front.  It is lovely and now that she is old enough to "play" with it, I love watching her with a gift that was given with love.

Experience | Annual Ski Pass!  My  winter favorite.  For kids, this is not an expensive gift at our local mountain and brings HOURS of fun.  Annual passes to just about anywhere your kids love is so cool.  If you have grandparents asking for gift ideas, try this one out.

Then there are family gifts. These are harder for the little ones to understand, but they make such a big impact (often behind the scenes) that we shouldn't ignore them. Wirsing- Gnocci Pfanne mit veganem Parmesan 
Zutaten:
*1/2 Wirsingkopf *1 Zwiebel *1/4 Gemüsebrühwürfel *1 paar Spritzer Zitronensaft *70g veganer Frischkäse (ich hatte den von simply V )
*100ml Soja Creme *3- 4 El Wasser *2 El Öl *300g frische Gnocci *150g Champingnons *Salz,Pfeffer, Kräuter der Provence 
Zubereitung:
-die Zwiebel klein würfeln und in 1 El Öl andünsten -bei dem halben Wirsing den Strunk entfernen und in dünneStreifen schneiden, waschen und zu den Zwiebeln dazu geben zusammen mit dem Brühwürfelstück und mit andünsten lassen -die Pilze in Scheiben schneiden und in einer separaten Pfanne anbraten im restlichen Öl ( Salz, Pfeffer und Kräuter der Provence  hinzufügen)
-aus dem veganen Frischkäse, der Soja Creme, Wasser und Zitronensaft eine dickflüssige Sauce herstellen und zu dem Wirsing in die Pfanne geben und vermengen -die Pilze ebenfalls dazu geben und mit Salz, Pfeffer und Kräuterder Provence abschmecken -die Gnocci kurz kochen in heißemWasder und in einer separaten Pfanne anbraten dann auch zu dem Inhalt der Pfanne geben, alles vermengen und am Ende noch den veganen Parmesan darüber streuen ( Rezept dafür in ein paar Posts/ Fotos auf meinem Feed)
