When the weather gets chilly,  it's time for a nice bowl of chili 😉 😀

Perfect comfort meal to end the day. I needed to recharge from the busy week so we headed to the mountains 🏞. I run, then did some hiking on the beautiful trails of Salmon Falls, CA. Everything is so beautiful and green. Sage 🍃is growing wild all along the trail, and the manzanita trees are in full bloom 💐🌸(see my stories)

 Although you can't see it, this chili is a deliciously thick concussion made with ground bison, thick cut Applewood bacon, chipotle 🌶🌶in adobo sauce, black and kidney beans, homemade bone broth, and all kinds of spices including a little wild sage I may have picked up from the trail 😉

When I’m packing snacks, it’s really important to me that they have at least two food groups and usually with protein as well. This picture is the perfect example. It helps keep me full until the next meal. .

My biggest issue on class days is being able to bring enough food to keep me sustained. This usually requires a mid-morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack so I can make it through work as well. I finally found a way to get it all to class in a convenient way! Loving my new glass lock tupperware because it fits in my lunch box and comes in so many sizes!!

Another #KidFriendly recipe coming your way, courtesy of the wonderful @fit_n_clean_mama. Inspired by @rachlmansfield’s “Fudge Brownie Batter Truffle” she adapted these to include chocolate Soom. Here's how to make these fudge-y chocolate bites:

3/4 cup chickpeas, drained, + rinsed
3/4 cup Chocolate Soom
1-2 tbsp maple syrup 
1/4 cup @enjoylifefoods dark chocolate chunks, roughly chopped
1/2 cup @bobsredmill coconut flour
.
1. Pulse the chickpeas in your food processor until they’re a hummus-like consistency. 
2. Add the other goods and blend until combined and a ball forms. 
3. Roll into balls; makes about 25 balls. 
4. Sprinkle on just a few granules of course sea salt and press lightly (if needed) to get it to stick. 
5. Freeze for 20-30 min to allow to set. Then store in the fridge or freezer until ready to pop into your mouth! 😛

One thing that I've learned about creating a sustainable routine is to always make sure you include a passion or simple joy everyday so that it doesn't feel like a routine. Little beef pasties to the rescue! ➖➖ I don't think there's much else that could have tempted the Bigger One to eat today so it worked out really well that these were in the meal plan ➖➖I've made these little parcels before with leftover bolognese and leftover chicken curry and they both work great, you just have to make sure there's enough sauce in there that they don't dry out ➖➖tonight's filling was what was left from the weekend's short ribs, cooked with some garlic, salt, pepper, stout (leftover from the ribs recipe) and then all the condiments! Ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. I also included the juices/jelly from cooking the ribs the first time round and some frozen peas ➖➖to make the parcels, cut a pre-made, pre-rolled sheet of puff pastry into 6 pieces (cut once lengthways and then 2 cuts widthways), spoon on the filling and fold the pastry over it diagonally before sealing and glazing with egg ➖➖ bake at 220 for about 15mins or until the pastry is golden 👍🏻 ➖➖ freeze any leftovers ready to save another day ⚡️ .

I’ve been doing reformer Pilates for just on 2 years, 3-5 times per week, and I did a year of mat Pilates before that. I got into Pilates because I injured my lower back pretty badly doing bikram yoga because I’m hyper mobile. Being hyper mobile means I have to work a lot harder to stretch or move carefully and in correct form/posture, as my body can go further/stretch more than it should. Pilates has helped me strengthen my back and every other part of my body in the process. It’s truly the only exercise I’ve ever loved (I previously wondered how people could ‘love’ exercise at all, but you just gotta find your jam!) and I couldn’t imagine not doing it! I feel like it’s been awhile since I posted a pic of what I feed Coco. This was lunch today, simple & healthy! 🥒🥑🍅I realized recently that I put too much unnecessary pressure on myself about what I cook up for Coco’s meals especially lunches. I love cooking and making recipes but I realized that I don’t always have to go thru all the trouble, he’s more than happy with a simple lunch like this. I forget that his stomach is much smaller than ours (even though he has a big appetite) and this plate is more than enough for him.
