Jewellers loupes are a good tool to inspect the trichomes color. When trying to figure out when you should harvest a great tool is to check the color of the sphere at the tip of the thrichome. If you are looking for a more energetic product with a little more bite, harvest when they are clear with only a couple of cloudy and orange colored spheres.
If you are looking for an even keeled product, harvest when the spheres are an equal mix of clear, cloudy and orange spheres. This nets a more even flavor smoothness and power. If you are looking for something more relaxing and smooth, harvest when the spheres are mostly orange. This will be a product that is smooth and chill. A little less powerful but very smooth and tasty.
Different strains raise and lower cannabinoid content depending on all sorts of environmental and physiological variables so it's impossible to say for all when the most potent time is to harvest. With that said, it seems that as long as the plant reaches full maturity, if it is harvested earlier, the product feels more intense. This could be because as the plant ages, the THC starts to convert to CBN which is a sedative compound that is mildly psychoactive. In large doses, CBN will cause dizziness and drowsiness which is why products likeThai Stick are such powerful creepers. The older the product, the oranger it gets. Thai stick is aged and sweated multiple times. It looks very orange but it is still very powerful when it comes to overall effect.
The power of Thai stick could also have something to do with the high THC landrace Thai strains that are common in Thailand. Either way, it smells like bananas and is bananas!
These #charlottesweb are at 5 weeks and already huge. I couldn't be happier with these 315W ceramic metal halide lights. They aren't as cool as everyone claims. It's about 2 of these to one 1000w hps. Still, the savings is sizable using 630w vs 1000w with less heat output. Another plus is that the hydro company isn't looking for these yet so my hydro bill was not ballooned for the first time in years (We track our hydro usage and BC Hydro rips us off by about +35%). I try to be careful not to work under these lights as the UV is off the charts and it will give you a sunburn. I would recommend using T5 banks to work under. All the extra UV drives up resin production and cannabinoid concentrations too so I'm looking forward to that. It's incredible how the plants instantly darken to an emerald/forest green when placed under these lights. Plant metabolism speeds up considerably too. I fertilize with low EC Canna and my runoff EC was well within limits and still I had tip burn after about 6 hours under these lights. Also, when I tied them down, the heads turned up in about 3 hours!?! WTF??? Overall, these lights kick ass. Tomorrow I will add Co2 enrichment and things should get really bananas. The footprint is about 3' square and they excel at about 20" off the canopy. I am currently vegging under 6 bulb T5 light banks. They are slim and powerful but they create a lot of heat/far red energy and draw 324w. I may switch to vertical 315W ceramic metal halides as they have better light, less heat and cause tighter internode stacking... The shock between veg room and flower room would likely be less too. I'll keep you posted!
They are all for the most part back into veg, the lights help I think.
Still working on getting my 50 gallon compost tea barrel rigged up. They have been asking me every time I go in there, "when do we get some more of that good good?" Genetics:

"Papa & Barkley #Releaf Balm worked wonders for me. I have a bad shoulder that occasionally causes pain depending on how I am standing or sitting. I used Papa & Barkley Releaf Balm and the effects were almost immediate. My pain had been suppressed and I find that I have complete mobility of my shoulder again just after a few short minutes. Will definitely be using again!" Kyle Henry
