Oatmeal Fig Bar. In my never-ending quest to figure out ways to utilize all the figs I now have access to, I took my go-to Oatmeal Cookie recipe, browned the butter, added additional liquid, ground flax seeds, walnuts, shredded coconut, and gently mixed in 2 cups of my fig preserves. The result is a cake-like bar that could be mistaken for a soft, sweet granola bar. Indeed, just like most store-bought granola bars, this is not particularly healthy, despite the flax seeds, walnuts and whole wheat pastry flour. But it will satisfy your sweet tooth (in fact, I will reduce the sugar next time). And I guess it is a smidgen "healthy." #oatmealfigbars#oatmeal#figpreserves#figs#flaxseeds#walnuts#wholewheat#wholewheatpastryflour#kindahealthy#dessertswithbenefits#chefvickishu
I have a BUNCH of leftover white beans from this weekend so I decided to try a vegetarian wrap today for a quick and easy lunch. I topped a whole wheat wrap with some greek yogurt ranch dip, white beans, lettuce, tomato and shredded carrot. And guess what, it's actually really good!
And my plate smiles back at me 😊 #indianfood#wholewheat#onionkulcha#lamb#chicken .
So it was my husband's birthday and I was hunting for a restaurant serving good Indian food when I stumbled upon Indian on the lake. The reviews seemed good and so I booked. Upon reaching, the staff was pleasant and chef eager to please us hardcore Indian food lovers. We ordered Butter Chicken and Madras curry lamb with wholewheat onion kulcha, naan and laccha paratha. While the lamb blew my mind, the butter chicken was nowhere near what it's supposed to be. Disappointed, we traded it for Lababdar which was redemption for pseudo butter chicken. Would I go back? Maybe not because the food was very very pricey and even the taste didn't justify the price. But maybe good for one time visit. Our hunt for good butter chicken in GTA continues
