Training with power is a real game changer. Comparing it with HR and also judging efforts feels so much more precise with my training. Obviously still early days using it, but I love the numbers it’s providing and I would love to get a power meter on the bike. Anyone want to send one this way?? #quadsandtris#healthandcarevideos
Ok so running is off the training plan until I see a Physio next week about my knee so it’s back to the pain cave this evening. Need to remember my bike next week to join @dirtywknd on their ally pally repeats 👊
I'm a believer in variety, so long as you have a consistent focus. I ride because I just love riding my bike, and if you follow my feed will know that I'll take whatever opportunity that I can to be out on two wheels. Living in a winterized country though means that you need to follow a consistent program indoors to ensure you have done your prep in time before that week of spring that we get before summer arrives. Our weather is just too extreme to be able to rely on anything else. IMHO, the only way to cram both base miles and the necessary interval sessions into our busy lives is to include regular indoor sessions in your program.
Read an article in @bicyclingmag last night about how to break the boredom of the indoor trainer (link below). It recommends getting a smart trainer and run trainer programs that keep you honest in your sessions.
I'm going to supplement that by saying you should do all that, all in an environment where there are people! In modern urban life, especially if you have bikes, why on earth do you want to get all sweaty in your kitchen/dining room/basement?? For me, in late fall and winter I ride 3-5 mornings a week at the @digdeepcyclingfitness studio in Toronto. Fully equipped with Wahoo smart trainers and the usual modern training software, scheduled classes and programs commit you to putting in the efforts that you need. All this in the supportive environment of a peloton akin to what you might be used to with your buddies outside.

♥️ Dear Friends, I have the opportunity this year to both give back to an organization that makes the work I do possible and complete a pilgrimage. The first week of June I will be one of the thousands who cycle from SF to LA as a fundraiser for San Francisco AIDS foundation. My goal is to raise $5k, any amount small or large is deeply appreciated. You can donate through the link in my bio and learn more about #aidslifecycle and #whyiride . Thank you for your support for my work and this amazing community. ♥️
Two weeks down in the New Year New I challenge. We had five winners this week: @redheaded_bekah @bellydancerkisa @anneradecki @kates47 @dawnie_b all took an average of 7️⃣ classes and we even saw two of these tough ladies do a Steel Barre + Ride combo!!!! 💪
✌🏻rest days (who dis?)

✌🏿legs to whom I am eternally grateful that they take me to all these wonderful places, with all these wonderful people.
Today’s training ride was epic! I got to ride with a new buddy and we rode to Whitewater which is uphill. I decided to do Tramway not once but twice and back to back! It is something I have never done in the sequence before. It was a huge accomplishment for me. I climbed over 5,000ft in elevation gain. I rode over 55 miles and all climbing with at time a 9% grade going up the tram! So can you please help me? I am hoping this ride today will get some motivation for AIDS/LifeCycle. Any amount makes a difference and I can barely move right now but it was worth it if I could save lives. So can you help make this day even better? Any amount makes a difference #gaycyclist#gayboy#cyclist#ridelovelive#whyiride#palmsprings#palmspringsaerialtramway www.tofighthiv.org/goto/rainbowsprinkles
Fruit loops 🍉 It seemed we were the only folk crazy enough to take the old Chilean road up to Cristo Redentor which meant that we passed a “blissful” couple of hours slogging it up the 9.5km/ 600m climb to the top without seeing another soul. Can you spot us? 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏽♂️
