The name behind “Yellow Token 309” I met a barber by the named of Sarah during my off shift, when I served my boot days at the Berkeley Fire Dept as a young paramedic. Long story short, she was a quite, petite woman and just barely started working at the barbershop a long broadway in Oakland as part of a rehab program. She gives a nice buzz, with a quick fade and wicked lines. After getting to know Sarah for about two months, she told me a story. Once upon a time a girl from Texas fell in love with a tattooist, the young love birds packed their bags and moved to Oakland, where they could be closer to her boyfriend’s family. They lived in the Travelers Inn ( infested with drugs and prostitution) Sarah took a job as a hairstylist in Chinatown a walking distance from where she and her boyfriend lived for 7 mos. To fast forward this story, Sarah caught her boyfriend cheating inside their one bedroom that she called home. Her world spiraled thereafter, she contemplated on committing suicide, instead turned to drugs for comfort, heroin and methamphetamine was her drugs of choice. When we met Sarah, she was on her way to recovery and when she told me her story, I dusted my cameras and ended my 8yr hiatus from photography. Sarah took me back to the future inside room 309, where the doors can only be open by a yellow token. (Just an update. Sarah got married a year after we took this photo and I shot her wedding. She met a computer engineer that works for Google and she now owns her own Hair Saloon. I am #blessed and proud to call her FAMILY and I no longer serve as a first responder) Welcome to room 309
Some serious self actualization happening lately. Realizing one self's worth and potential often comes from hardship. But nothing good ever came easy, right? Rolling with the punches and coming out on top cause this diva's got a mean left hook 👊 #yearofnaween
So...that guy on the left introduced me to that scruffy, but rustically handsome guy on the right, a year and a half ago. And as we begin to plan our lives together, I couldn't be more thankful. @mclittles Micah and I owe you big time 😉
Arriving in Yosemite I was hugely disappointed that Glacier Point Road was closed due to fires. Taft Point was one of the places I was most looking forward to visiting on our roadtrip. Thankfully, on our eighth and last full day in the park the road opened. It was absolutely well worth the wait! Ben and I were lucky enough to witness the most incredible sunset. Taft Point well and truly exceed my expectations.
Flipping back through my pictures this morning I realized that I have been on some pretty incredible adventures over the past year. Both alone and in the company of great friends. And yet, I have still just barely scraped the surface of Colorado. Here's to all the trails and alpine lakes ahead 🥂
We planned our farewell from Valdez in perfect harmony with sunny skies so we could do a triple-hike day (and actually see the beautiful Chugach Mtns around us!) Round 1 took us to the Goat Trail at Bridal Veil Falls. Then we took the high road and hiked on the tundra at Thompson Pass. Here, and on our final hike du jour, we did a short but worthy hike down to the foot of the #worthingtonglacier . What a day!
Feeling like I'm maybe starting to look like a witch but not mad about it. 😂🤔 Maybe it's just the new moon 🌙 necklace. Haha! Had a massage today and it was AMAZING. I feel so relaxed. And have to write a review for this man bc he was incredible. (Stay tuned Bozeman). Seriously. (And not in a weird way so 🙄🖐🏻).
Gotta send out a few emails before tomorrow= back to back days in Big Sky! 💫One of these days I'll find a doctor that lives here, until then I'll let the appointments fuel an adventure. 🌎🙏🏻the kids have school tomorrow so we'll see where life takes me! ✌🏻️
A picture can leave so many open ended questions. You never truly know the back story behind a picture. •
You would not know that my feet were freezing and hurting. Taking my socks & shoes off to climbing on cold, rough rocks was not the smartest of choices, but it so was freeing!
You would not know that seconds before this, I ripped a hole in my pants while trying to climb down a rock, right on the right side of my booty. 👎🏻
(Thank goodness for photo editing🙏🏻)
You would not know that our plans did not go accordingly ,and we did not get to do the hike we wanted to, but we were so grateful for this hike and all it's beauty.
You would not know how I was feeling, what I was going through, or thinking.
You just have this picture.
That's the thing about social media and life, you never truly know.
So don't compare yourself to others, appreciate others unique ways, be kind for no reason, love, and be the best person you can be. That's what the world needs more of.💜
If they say a photo is worth a thousand words...
A behind the scenes shot is worth a few good belly laughs...
But the real magic... That happens out in the wilderness. When you reconnect with nature, with your true wild, free, and natural self.
So we are putting the social back in social media...

Do you see the world as coherent or capricious? Stable or unstable? Consistent or changeable? When you look at the world as unstable, you make room for a dynamic, complex, ever changing self...with limitless potential. Nothing ever stays the same. The best is yet to come. Goodness awaits you in this complex, chaotic world of infinite possibilities. Capricious is delicious if you choose to see it that way😋.
Bit of a mind bender, that one. But I love twisting my mind-it feels good! This sapphire coloured lake in Strathcona Park is a lovely spot for deep thinkin. Oh nature, you'll always be my therapist 😜🌈🌲☀️🦋✨💕
