Its always a challenge photographing a subject that is well photographed. So I knew I wanted something a bit different.
I saw this Pelican swimming towards the frozen part of the lake, he then jumped up on to the ice. I knew to keep my eye on him as he was well isolated from the rest of the birds giving me a great back drop and potentially a great image.
After waiting a while he vigorously shaked his head and neck shaking all the icy water out of his feathers. Osprey fishing during the summer months. This was such a fun session photographing these amazing birds. They dive into the water with wings swept back, thrusting their talons forward at the last minute to grab the fish from below the surface of the water. The speed these birds dive at is astonishing! @earthfocus @nature @wildlifepage @canonuk @jessops @wildlife.hd @wildlifeplanet @majestic_wildlife_
This image was in April last on my final session with the majestic Golden Eagles. Photographed whilst guiding the #natureslens eagles and Raptors of Spain workshop.
I was in the hide earlier during the week when my dream came true. A Golden Eagle and Red Fox having a stand off then a brutal battle. Annoyingly I was over lensed and had my big prime on resulting in lots of missed action. I decided not to switch lenses as I would have missed witnessing as what only can be described as an amazing event. So I decided to just watch the show!
Last night was my final return to the Golden Eagle hide and I was hoping that this event would occur again. To my amazement the fox came back in and resulted in a crazy 10 minute long battle. I was prepared this time and had a shorter lens on to capture the action.
Sometimes in wildlife photography it is always about being in the right place at the right time and a considerable amount of luck.
I got my fair share of luck that evening and I was delighted to have witnessed such an amazing scene, not once but twice in one week!

Common Lizards are one of the few reptiles we have in the UK, but show an amazing variety of colours between individuals. Due to an unseasonably warm winter, one of the populations I work with emerged far earlier this year, with females out at the start of March. This golden girl was one of my favourites to work with, but lost her tail a couple of weeks after first seeing her. Whilst this will grow back, it can impact their ability to drop it again, increasing their risk of successful predation.⠀

[Sky Watcher] The Brahminy Kite / Elang Bondol #WWFID
Still my favorite eagle around South-East Asia. I took this shoot when im going to coservation. Brahminy Kite living well with humans, some populations in south-east Asia have been negatively affected by hunting or habitat loss, sounds good right! :)
