This horse right here is a Mustang last year around this time he was rounded up from Nevada and taken to Illinois and kept till may then my trainer got him for the Mustang makeover a year later around now he isn't ready to ride, he still didn't trust anyone.. now he is a jerk that loves attention and my trainer has been on him, he is fun to be around it's just amazing! #mustang#horses#wildmustang#mustangmakeover#trainerchallenge#kellerhorsemanship
I can't believe its been 2 months since we brought Vera and Groot home from the Litchfield Corrals. Groot sure has changed in color! Vera has changed the most since we picked them up. She lost her mommy belly and getting more muscle also getting a nice smooth hair coat. Started her on @biomaneproducts to hopefully get her chewed up mane and tail (thanks to Groot) to grow.
Today Dodge had his first race back since Worlds and his retirement that ended up only lasting a few months and he was amazing. It wasn’t the prettiest but we left them all up and ended up 2nd in the 3D!! I love this horse so much and am so lucky to have such an amazing Barrel partner. Of course I started crying when they announced placings but a 2nd in the 3D is a pretty nice way to come out of retirement! Now to get back in our running shape and clean up our turns! Dodge definitely made it clear today he doesn’t want retirement #dodge#indianoutlaw#barrelhorse#barrelracer#wild#mustang#wildmustang#2xworldchampionshipqualifier
This was my partner Blue, for a week in the Sierra Nevadas, tracking wild mustangs. We camped out and each day rode at dawn to photograph the mustang bands and learn about the local ecology and nature. Our base camp was a native reservation in the Truman Meadow Area in the Inyo National Forest. Blue was himself a BLM mustang and he took the best care of me (PS he chose this moment to stretch his neck, I’m not using a rollkur) 🤪#mustangs
I have not made the official announcement but believe now is time. As many know I was retiring Dodge after Worlds this past October which I did. We began slowing down our work and no longer focusing on our hard work related to barrels. But Dodge quickly picked up on the difference of our riding style. For almost 2 months he turned back into the opinionated unruly mustang he use to be back when I first got him. I was getting so frustrated and upset since I just want him to be happy. Well then I had been discussing about his change and found out we had qualified a second time for Worlds and that maybe he wasn’t ready. Then one day I put him just on one barrel and rode him like I use to and instantly he went back to his normal self. He had been trying to tell me he wasn’t ready to retire despite how bad I wanted him to take it easy. Well this weekend Dodge has his first barrel race at a jackpot to see how he’s feeling for the season. This year we will be racing the Maryland/Delaware circuit and aiming to make a return to Georgia this October once again for another shot. Last year we got a taste of what it was but this year we are going to win as long as Dodge continues to want to run. Have to say I’m pretty excited to be on the pattern this weekend with my teammate ❤️🛢🛢🛢🏇 #Dodge#indianoutlaw#barrelhorse#barrelracer#wild#mustang#wildmustang#road2worlds2018#2xworldchampionshipqualifier#turnnburn#dreamscometrue#chaseyourdreams
@Regranned from @pinenutwildhorseadvocates - I will never forget taking this picture. It was a hot day on the range in the middle of summer. I had found in my heart a few months earlier, a huge love for these beautiful, majestic animals, and I could hardly stay away. I was watching Samson's band be moved quickly by Samson away from an ATV that was speeding by. The band eventually settled down in a new spot, as the sound of the ATV was now far off. As I did most of the summer, I picked a rock, and I watched. I was far off, so the band would not get used to my presence, and I just watched. I find so much peace in watching. In a world where everything is fast paced, loud, and you hardly get a moment to just enjoy life, the range I found to be my place of solace. I also love to watch their communication, and how they handle situations, as a new horse owner with a rather dominant mare, I could use all the help I could get from the wild ones. Well everyone settled back into grazing, except these two. They groomed one another, and kept looking around, possibly waiting for another ATV. They nuzzled their heads together. Calming, and reassuring one another. Little did I know really how amazing what they were doing really was, showing affection, and having the ability to calm the stress in one another, even slowing down each other's heart rates. Incredible, how beautiful it is to watch these animals, and to know the devotion they have to one another. They are beautifully designed, and some of the most caring, loving, loyal animals ever.
