I had a fantastic time this week at the @aubonclimatwine / @qupewines end of harvest celebration. This is one of my favorite events of the year where I serve as sommelier and catch up with my old friends @jimclendenen and Bob Lindquist - supremely talented winemakers, pioneers of Santa Barbara wine country, and whom I consider as mentors as they gave me my first winery/harvest experience back in 1996. Cheers🍷
Beautiful post wine-tasting winemakers platter from @elephanthill — Serrano ham, Pedrazzoli Soppresa, olives, chutney, poached grapes, bread, smoked almonds, Brie de Meaux, and Meyer Vintage Gouda 🧀🧀🧀 Enjoyed outside with some amazing people 👭👫 in the sunshine ☀️ in the middle of the vines 🏝
The 2017 Semillon vintage was one of the best in recent memory and has produced wines of the highest quality. Solid rains in winter and spring meant the vines had constant access to water and the warmer weather in the new year meant all of the fruit was in near perfect condition and ripeness when it was harvested.
