Who are you???
I am a soon to be mother of two girls who likes things simple, whimsy and a little bit weird. Katelyn Daman owner @rose_and_doll.
Why did you become a maker???
I went into business school knowing I wanted to own my own business in some form. When I had my daughter I found that large brands and stores didn't have the baby accessories that I was looking for so I started making what I couldn't find. LuckyGirl was the first group to take a chance and bring me on as a vendor (thanks ladies!).
What is your favourite thing you are making right now???
My linen collection! Everything is cozy, organic and made for boys, girls and their mamas.
(Swipe to see collection).
What is the 1 thing you’d like people to know about what you make???
That sizing is unconventional. I don't make anything in 3 month increments because either the fabric or the pattern is made to last through multiple growth stages.
Who would you most like to collaborate with???
Great question! I would love to collaborate with my dearest friend @lovematea (something mayyyy already be in the works 😉 ).
What is your biggest challenge as a maker???
Keeping consistency. I love buying fabrics and creating patterns so stocking the same item and not continuing to pivot with the brand has been tough!.
If you could show or sell your work anywhere on the planet where would that be???
Anywhere in Australia. I follow so many trendsetting Australian shops and influencers and love the kids style that is emerging from there.
What keeps you going???
Can we continue this question over a glass of wine? To keep it short, in the daytime job world I've found business to be still very much male dominated. To see women creating their own paths, starting their own businesses and supporting their families is so motivating. LuckyGirl has two amazing mothers and female leaders that have created a space for these small shops to collaborate and support each other - walking around and being a part of so many female business owners is truly inspirational

Thank you for all the support on this new journey I’m about to take. The love I’ve been getting from everyone before even starting is very humbling and feels so surreal for sure.
I’ll be cutting for free so if you can help a brother out and don’t mind sitting in my chair for longer then usual (practice makes perfect 😂) you can DM or text me @ 204-227-6968. Thanks again! 🙏🏽💈

First Nations people observed that the circle is a dominant symbol in nature and has come to represent wholeness, completion, and the cycles of life. The drive in the prairies was looooooong, but Winnipeg was pretty cool and much bigger than I thought. It was freezing cold though, as soon as I sprayed the de-icer on the windscreen, it'd freeze back over!
