It’s no secret that I love reading any and every book out there related to wellness. 🙏🏻 I’d heard about this one for quite a while but for some reason, I just wasn’t really interested. Until now.

After a summer of barely being able to keep my eyes open without a nap DAILY by 2PM, I decided to give this a try as a new approach toward my own wellness routines. I’m not going to go into detail about it all here -> I’ll leave that to the author (and expert). 👩‍💻 At a high level, this book is about being a woman, taking control of our bio-individuality, and REALLY understanding what is going on within our bodies rather than dismissive, ashamed or reliant on long held incorrect beliefs about female hormones and aging. 
Within the past few years, I’ve noticed a distinct change in my hormones, and how it affects my emotions and energy. I suspect this is due to several factors of my own personal history, but there is no doubt that aging is playing a role. For the record, I’m 41. 
I’m only about a month into trying this new protocol, but I am already feeling like I’m getting things more under control. I don’t know if this will be the complete answer (and again, I’m not a doctor or expert), but I’ll tell you that I’m empowered and thrilled to be able to really try to understand my body versus taking a passive attitude. I want to take control of my health, and this is all part of that effort!

I have inconclusively diagnosed #PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which I have left untreated for my entire adult life because I was told the only "treatment" was the birth control pill. Thanks but no thanks. So I have suffered with symptoms for 20+ years and done who knows what damage to my long term health. ENTER THIS BOOK. I have actually finally cracked it!!! Usually after these big events I look back at photos and am really annoyed with myself because I didn't look after my body beforehand and I just feel 'bleurgh' and uncomfortable! But this time I feel so proud of myself because I've well and truly cracked this healthy living thing and I feel AMAZING! This is honestly the best shape I have ever been in in my life and most importantly it's the healthiest I've ever been too! I cannot believe I went on for so many years feeling so crap about my body and obsessing about it and the answer all along was just not to focus on being skinny but just focus on what's GOOD for me! For the first time EVER I can say I'm truly happy with my body! What a freeing thought that is! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🤸🏻‍♀️

I've experienced a lot of gut health issues over the last year and have tried everything from changing my diet to trying new medicines. It's been rough, but it has really opened my eyes up to how important it is to know our own bodies! This book was recommended to me - the title made me a little wary, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. 
8/10- this book was honestly amazing! I learned so much about my body and how much goes on internally daily. I initially only wanted to read certain chapters of the book, but found myself reading it cover to cover. I've never given much thought to how foods affect our moods/ fertility/ menstrual cycles (mainly because they all just seemed icky to think about). BUT, this book helped me realize that these issues are our issues and we should talk about them! This was a really empowering read and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is curious about women's health.

**personal post ahead** 1. Simmer down.... I'm not going to start posting selfies.  I just don't do them. 
2. Yes, I am holding a light saber. 😂😎#starwarslove
3.  As you probably know, I am a huge advocate of exercising and eating clean.  BUT...a year and a half ago, that started to fail me... or so I thought.  My body started going crazy.  First, I gained 10 pounds very quickly despite my healthy lifestyle.  Then I started to develop the worst acne (gross, I know). Then, as if that weren't enough, my gall bladder started going bad!!! All this had me feeling pretty low and helpless.  My doctor just threw birth control pills at me. 😔 Long story short, I spent a year hating them and seeing not much of a change.  Then someone suggested I read #womancode by #alisavitti.  It's not a crazy fad diet.  I don't do those either.  It's a book that teaches women how to balance their hormones through what they eat.  Sounded like clean eating which I love and already do!  But, it is much more than that.  The book teaches you how to listen to your body through every phase of your cycle and eat according to your symptoms.  It takes time to get things straightened out and I am just at the beginning.  But I already feel FANTASTIC! Pesky pills are gone and I am finally losing this crazy hormone related weight.  That strength I knew I had underneath is finally starting to show. Physically and mentally. I've talked to several women who have hit mid thirties and started going through the same thing so I wanted to share my story and encourage all women to read this book.  It will really help you understand your endocrine system in a way that all women should!

Raw oats soaked overnight used @bobsredmill but not sure which kind cuz it was in a jar & used about 1/2 cup-pays support the flushing out of excess estrogen which causes cysts 
Cashew mylk (I used coconut but you can use any nut mylk but not 🐄mylk cuz that's for baby cows & dairy is almost always recommended to be cut out of diet when you suffer any ailments in your lady parts 💁🏼💃🏼

I've been slowly trying to put into practice small habits that will help with hormonal balance. Believe it or not, our liver and our large intestine play a HUGE ROLE in this. Tomorrow, I am starting Alisa Vitti's four day food-based cleanse to help reset my pathways of elimination and recalibrate my endocrine system. I meal prepped all evening so that I'm prepared for the next four days. Even for me this will be a challenge!
