Woodturning injury. I was sharpening a tool called a gouge. It slipped and kissed my wrist. Not deep enough for stitches. But still ugly. It'll leave a mark. Someone told me chicks love scars. Whatever that means. I've raised chickens. They could care less about scars. #woodturning#scarsandcars#scar#injury#gouge#hobby#myexperience
In this video I show you a piece of the pentaglone enchantment box before it is sanded. After I used the table saw to form the initial shape. The second piece I grab is one I've been working on and the end shows the lines disappearing and the slope forming 🤙🏼 made in my @carhartt 'ralls. PS: sorry if I'm interrupting game of thrones!!!!
I pulled a piece of old oak out of my fathers firewood pile. That is okay because he is in the end stages of dementia and won't be needing it anymore. I had a specific person in mind who would get whatever I found inside. As I struggled and coaxed this little bowl out of that log it came to me how this piece really represented my father. Oak being one of the strongest woods like my father who exuded strength in body and character. This little bowl has nicks, cracks, voids. It is flawed like my father and like us all yet in the end it has become a beautiful work of art at the touch of the makers hand. It was then I knew that this bowl had to go to my mother @grammyscraps who has become my fathers primary caregiver. Perhaps it will give her a little comfort. #lathe#woodturning#bowlmaking#wood#woodworking#oak#maker#demtiasucks
Hard to part with this beauty, but it will now be a home to all the bottoms patiently waiting for @refreshbyekkamai coffee in Venice! One of the most gorgeous slabs I've worked with. #thankyoumothernature
This doesn't tick us off 😎

I took a 2 day woodturning course this past week. It was very exciting to say the least. I was most intimidated by turning the pen, but in the end it is the project, I am the most pleased with. Its going to be a long, long time before I turn another bowl. #woodturning#greybrucewoodworkingguild#southamptonartschool
Fun day of making muddlers and other spindles. I figured a mint julep with Maker's Mark was appropriate for the occasion, though I did have an old fashioned first :). Spalted Maple, River Birch, and White Oak.
