One of my favorite quotes on creativity. Also, one of the hardest ideas for me to implement. There is so much emphasis placed on perfection that it doesn't leave much room for the failures of exploration.
What is one of your favorite quotes on creativity or thinking outside the box?
Hey friends! Been working on a couple of commissions so I haven’t had much time for Inktober, sorry! (Also just losing motivation tbh, haha) Hopefully I can finish off the month strong and get back into it in the next few days. Thanks for all your support!
It's sunny and chilly this morning, a gorgeous spring day. My gardens are like jungles after all the good rain we've had, and I'm excited to head out there to see what's blooming, what's sprouting, and what's ready for harvest. I'm also looking forward to an afternoon of wood-burning spoons. Wooden spoons make me happy, they always have. I love having a canister full of odd-shaped ones in my kitchen, waiting patiently to be used for tasting broth, stirring cookie dough, and ladling good food onto plates. :-) #spring#morning#gardens#rain#harvest#grow#wood#wooden#woodworking#woodwork#spoons#kitchen#utensil#art#artist#etsy#food
Aww... I love love and I’m certainly feeling the love today 💝 My beautiful, kind hearted neighbour gave me 3 gorgeous crystals and later on a buddy brings me a lovely bottle of scotch 🥃 So blessed to have such sweet guys and girls in my life ☀️
If you want to purchase an amazing tealight holder like this one, head over to @therustictreecompany 🌳
Spent my lunch at work today, using crushed turquoise to fill some cracks in a few rough bowls I can’t justify giving up on.
Left to right:
9.5” very curly Maple.
11” Madrone with sapwood.
7” calabash shaped Walnut
After planing the walnut slabs, I glued them up last night. I’m going to pull them out of the clamps after dinner and start sanding and filling the holes with epoxy. I feel like everyone uses @westsystemepoxy_ but I have a ton of quick set epoxy. Is it blasphemy to use quick set epoxy for that kind of work?
Sorry for the self promotion but I want to let you all know the Alfie Shine is now on the Vesper Tools website!
As a side story to that I'm spending considerable time and energy on an inhouse product photography setup lately. These images are from that. I have much to learn about photography of bright shiny reflective metal and wood things with very subtle colours and trying to capture the chatoyance, it's not easy but it worth it I think!
