I have been feeling really low because of the illness - but some warmth and love was waiting outside my door right after I finished filming today. A gentle - earth tone - of wishes and spirits from another part of the world - beautiful wool and #alpaca#Blends from @mywoolmitten #serenityfarms - thank you for a beautiful swap of #woollove#myfirst#handspunn ever for my collection 🙏🏻🧡
@knitsirdar's Doodle DK is a brand new baby yarn for the spring season, it comes in 9 vintage colourways, each one has multicoloured flecks that create a tweedy effect. What is one word would you use to describe this yarn? #LoveWoolNI (photography by: @williams.life)
Reversible cables as buttonholes = a band that looks good open, too! Desolation Sound pattern on Ravelry.com & @loveknittingcom; link in my profile. Made in Windham yarn by @jillmakesstuff, photo by @galezucker, model: @alizfer.
Looking down the front beam of the loom, the texture becomes even more apparent. Yesterday it actually stopped raining for most of the march here in Seattle, but the rain is back today... cocooning indoors with my cozy work today... ☺️
Day 18: Stash enhancement
Oops, I totally haven't been following with the #wemakeyarn schedule! 😂 But I also haven't been spinning in weeks, because I had RUN OUT OF FIBER! 😵 Thankfully, we had a white elephant gift exchange at the knitluck last night, and I walked away with tons of new fiber to play with. 🤗 This is my absolute favorite, and it's Battatats by @woolpierogi. I'm usually a control freak, and spinning completely uniform yarn is helpful in keeping my OCD in check. In fact, I consider it a huge compliment when knitters can't distinguish between my handspun and commercially available yarn! But going into this spin with the expectation that it will be colorful and chaotic and random is actually helping me relax and enjoy the colors more. I love seeing the little fluroscent nepps and sparkly stellina flecks pop up, and I love watching the unpredictable color changes! It's also my first time working from a batt, so it'll be a learning experience. I'm hoping to do a chain ply and knit a long and simple shawl when I'm done, something that will make the colors really POP! 🌈🌈🌈
Sharing a basket on vintage granny square blankets from @thefromeindependent back in November. Anything to brighten up this grim Suunday morning - the rain is pouring down. Oh well, will just have to settle down with some crochet & a Harry Potter film marathon with my little Hermione wannabe ♡ #slowsunday
Plying hacks: if you’re going to ply from a center pull ball put something in the center so your singles don’t tangle! Finally finishing my huckleberry polworth/silk by @ravenridgefiber today! #handspunyarn
so happy (and confused/concerned about climate change) because we've finally had some respite from the deep freeze here on the prairies. when i went to visit @longwayhomestead last month to record our interview for @fromfieldtoskin, we were definitely in deep freeze weather. you know you're dedicated to your sheep when you hand feed them with bare hands in -30 and lower 🐑
go give a listen to my interview with anna if you haven't already, and follow @fromfieldtoskin for more fibreshed fun! i happen to know there's a pretty cute farm cat in the most recent photo... 😽
Can’t keep the drop spindle empty! It’s my favorite thing to do when I have little time gaps in my day. This time I have a local undyed Romney to try out. I’m thinking I may want to make this one a single and have it felt a little. I’ve never made singles before though, so I will need to do a bit of research. Any tips or suggestions are always welcome!
Saturday afternoon on a rainy day...
So many knitting projects to finish !
I love to knit yarns I can relate to, this one has been dyed with ferns from Ginny Sheller's garden or forest nearby, an idea of your daughters right @ginnysheller ?
Anyway the colour is gorgeous, it's just a pity I'm such a slow and poor knitter 😄
