IN LAK’ECH - I am your other you. (In progress.) - I try to paint most days because painting keeps me focused - and let’s be honest - sane. The craziness of the holidays - and life and work - right now has distracted me from painting for a while and today I came home feeling it. Like I might just die. (I know I’m super dramatic.) I had no idea what I wanted to paint, just that I needed to. The phrase “In Lak’ech” kept repeating in my head ... a phrase that my mentor said to me recently: “I am your other you.” Explore it. So ... here we go. But it’s true right? We’re all one another. It’s intense. And magical.
She bleeds all of her colors to paint the world.
Sacrifices her jewels to give luster to the hopeless.
She takes on the plight of the broken and lightens their burden.
But she never runs out of colors.
She loves herself first.
She makes time to refuel her soul so she'll always have enough to pour out.
And it's all worth it because she doesn't paint the world in vain.
No, she inspires others to do the same.
