This is why I love what I do! Getting this text from a new client made me so excited and happy... smiling from ear to ear! Honestly, word of mouth is the best way to build your clientele... if you love your hair and you love your stylist, refer everyone you know and love. It’s the best way to show your hairstylist how much you appreciate them. ❤️❤️❤️
Wellp, that’s a wrap folks! This week we heard from some i n c r e d i b l e organizations like Johnson&Johnson, striving to use their brand's social media as a force for good, and others like @natgeo and @charitywater, cultivating meaningful human connection through the power of storytelling. We learned from a variety leaders, including the former First Lady @michelleobama herself, who empowered us to lead with empathy and kindness, to build trust by consistency and truth, and to fight to see good in people.
Needless to say, #SmartSocialSummit was 🔥. Shoutout to @spredfast for being an amazing host. You guys throw a killer party. 🎉 See y'all on the flip side! @mademoisellers and @laura_garvin, OUT. ✌️
Sate Ayam (chicken satay)
IDR 35,000 (£1.80)
I love this dish because it’s a combination of my 3 favourite things: 🐓, a sweet spicy sauce and BBQing. You can get some form of Satay in most restaurants in Bali, you just have to look around to find the right place. The chicken has to be well marinaded before cooking (usually in garlic, chilli, ginger, shallots and sweet soy), the peanut sauce has to be fairly sweet but also rich (getting a nice dark colour on the peanuts when you brown them adds a lot of depth) and the chicken has to be cooked over coals for that delicious smoky flavour.
This is from our local Warung and ticks all the boxes. It’s easy to whip up a tasty cheat Satay sauce (e.g peanut butter, soy, lime and sweet chilli) but the real thing tastes completely different and not at all sickly. I added a side of seriously hot minced 🌶 to mix into the rice and the Kangkung (Indonesian water spinach-fried with garlic and served with just about everything).
Once a week until my second book drops I'll be featuring an excerpt from one of my favorite conversations.
Below massage therapist Amanda Steinmann explains what it’s like to squeeze the tension out of skin, muscles and bones for a living. A lot more is happening than you would ever think! "I’ve always been fascinated by anatomy and the human figure—even growing up as a Mennonite where bodies weren’t allowed to be on display. Learning how the body works really delighted me. Also, it’s fascinating how much of massage therapy is based on reading what people want without any words being exchanged." - @amsteinmann
