I was super inspired by my #wundachair class this past Sunday for their dedication to their #pilatespractice We really focused on handstanding into the hands on #handstandpike and since #gymnastics is in my blood it only felt natural to transition out of it into a #handstand One thing I've noticed even #6monthspostpartum is that my low abs still aren't nearly as strong as they once were bc it was tough getting my leg up off of the pedal. Strength that the hamstrings must use in order to find stability & balance, while the trunk controls the depth it must go. I added a twist to my cow by allowing the spring to press into one arm while the other bends. Creating space, emphasis on space between top of the sacrum and bottom of the rib cage, on the back side of the body. Without space the lumbar spine cannot flex, without space there is no scoop, a cue commonly used by Pilates instructors to access abdominals. “Scoop” meant nothing to me for a long time because low back was tight, cramped. Took five years to find that space and then scoop finally made sense shortly afterwards. Scooping thru this pike exercise on the chair and the rest of the week.

"Side Over" on the pilates chair gives a wonderful stretch of the lateral flexors and strengthen the abdominal muscles, particular the obliques (waistline or "Love handles") The lighter spring, the more challenging

It's been awhile since I've participated in @lori.shipp #wundachairwednesday and to be honest this video was just for my self practice so I could see my own form strengths & weaknesses. I never post photos or videos in a #croptop which made me ask myself why? I'm still not really sure why I don't as I believe a healthy & positive body image comes in many shapes and forms. Which made me think back to @anulamaiberg 2016 #croptop challenge which I found so inspiring and honest. My body has produced two amazing children,  I'm stronger and more flexible now than I was in my 20's. I don't exercise 7 days a week I just try and live a balanced life.. 💗

Ideally my back would be more straight but I’m super proud of how I’ve been able to use Pilates to help open my tight hip flexors and lengthen my hamstrings. It’s taught me to use the muscles deep inside the hip to pull in as opposed to using quadriceps to kick the legs up. That just engages those already tight hip flexors and limits the range of motion, likely causing you to round in the low back to get the legs higher... as demonstrated here. 😉📷credit @ayo_fruitsnacks #pilates #pilateschair #balancedbody #wundachairwednesday #remedypilates #powerfulremedy #changehappenshere

Shoulder mobilization has definitely taken over my week since my Monday post with Anna @physiotherapystockholm 🤜🏼🤛🏼 and I'm loving it (in a disdainful sorta way) 😅
☝🏼This is a challenging area for me due to inflammation in my lymphs and tightness in my neck. Exploring options is not only fun for growth and keeps the body connected having to listen to the mind, but can make torturing our "problem areas" more enjoyable. Like eating foods we don't like but need to eat, it's nice to be able to serve them up in ways we can somewhat enjoy them.

📝Ground the sit bones into the moonbox to keep the lower spine stable (no rounding) so all the movement takes place in the thoracic with the shoulderblades gliding over the ribcage. Top of the abs and #transverseabdominis engaged for optimal length and stability in the spine.

~Variety~ Shoulder mobilization has definitely taken over my week since my Monday post with Anna @physiotherapystockholm 🤜🏼🤛🏼 and I'm loving it (in a disdainful sorta way) 😅 ☝🏼This is a challenging area for me due to inflammation in my lymphs and tightness in my neck. Exploring options is not only fun for growth and keeps the body connected having to listen to the mind, but can make torturing our "problem areas" more enjoyable. Like eating foods we don't like but need to eat, it's nice to be able to serve them up in ways we can somewhat enjoy them. 👎🏼 This is NOT one of them for me but here's it is 🤣 👉🏼 Scapular CARS with sitting tricep presses on the #wundachair  😒 Happy #wundachairwednesday  @lori.shipp 📝Ground the sit bones into the moonbox to keep the lower spine stable (no rounding) so all the movement takes place in the thoracic with the shoulderblades gliding over the ribcage. Top of the abs and #transverseabdominis  engaged for optimal length and stability in the spine. 👉🏼 Other additions: 🔸Upper back extension 🔸Tricep dips in a deep squat - 🍑 off 🔸#pistolsquat  tricep presses Adding as another contribution to the #healingwithpilates  topic #fullbodyintegration  with @functionfabulous and @zaynagold until they get sick of me 🤣 ⏭️ Sped up x4!
