Creating space, emphasis on space between top of the sacrum and bottom of the rib cage, on the back side of the body. Without space the lumbar spine cannot flex, without space there is no scoop, a cue commonly used by Pilates instructors to access abdominals. “Scoop” meant nothing to me for a long time because low back was tight, cramped. Took five years to find that space and then scoop finally made sense shortly afterwards. Scooping thru this pike exercise on the chair and the rest of the week.
Mental note to back the camera up for next week.
Happy #wundachairwednesday y'all! Can't wait to see what y'all are working on in your lessons, studios and personal workouts! This is the very beginning of footwork on the wunda - the basics are so important and not so basic once you really dive in!! Have a fantastic day, y'all! 📷@kwmedia.photography
Just for you @juanitonyc but really for me - cuz I need it. Some of the one legged ones were a real challenge and a work in progress BUT I got through them and Ima keep at em. Thanks for the challenge and motivation. Who else is on board for Wednesday Wunda Workouts?!
Our apparatus based classes include reformer, combo chair, Bodhi suspension, and so much more! We’re proud of our diverse and creative class offerings offered every day of the week😍 #wundachairwednesday#wundachair#pilates#dtfw
It's been awhile since I've participated in @lori.shipp #wundachairwednesday and to be honest this video was just for my self practice so I could see my own form strengths & weaknesses. I never post photos or videos in a #croptop which made me ask myself why? I'm still not really sure why I don't as I believe a healthy & positive body image comes in many shapes and forms. Which made me think back to @anulamaiberg 2016 #croptop challenge which I found so inspiring and honest. My body has produced two amazing children, I'm stronger and more flexible now than I was in my 20's. I don't exercise 7 days a week I just try and live a balanced life.. 💗
Ideally my back would be more straight but I’m super proud of how I’ve been able to use Pilates to help open my tight hip flexors and lengthen my hamstrings. It’s taught me to use the muscles deep inside the hip to pull in as opposed to using quadriceps to kick the legs up. That just engages those already tight hip flexors and limits the range of motion, likely causing you to round in the low back to get the legs higher... as demonstrated here. 😉📷credit @ayo_fruitsnacks #pilates#pilateschair#balancedbody#wundachairwednesday#remedypilates#powerfulremedy#changehappenshere
Looking at this picture you would never know what these women have gone through, and still go through, with their bodies. Through perseverance and commitment each has defied great odds and even prolonged surgeries by committing to their health. Celebrate what your body CAN do🙌🏻
No matter your limits, we can help you become stronger and healthier. We are so grateful to be a part of your fitness journey this year!❤️ #baysidestrong
Wet head #wundachairwednesday working the diagonal fascial slings this week in reformer classes. This little number, single arm pump from plank (??) with a leg raise does the trick. If those slings aren’t activated, pelvis and shoulders will rotate #faceplantrisk#pilates @lori.shipp
Happy #wundachairwednesday y'all! I want to see what you're working on in your classes, workouts and private lessons! Use #wundachairwednesday or @ me or both! If you need some inspiration @juanitonyc has an awesome little wunda workout up today to give it a go! Happy Wednesday, y'all!
Yes my head gets cut off, yes I am wiggling into the “best” position.... yes my pup Tucker is trying to get his moment on film.... oh the things we go through to video and it still has its imperfections.... but it’s those imperfections we grow from, we learn to accept and love... and what make us unique! Happy Wednesday!! #wundachairwednesday#pilates#balancedbody#pilatesandpets @lori.shipp @informedtechnique
