If you want tear-filled heart eyes, I definitely recommend every single book on this stack... and so many more. Almost all my favorites are "Gut-punchy feels" books (#grimdragon ). I take a book that makes me cry over one than makes me laugh any day! I need to be invested in a character and FEEL things or the book doesn't stand a chance.
What books made you cry the hardest?
QOTD: what's one of your favorite books that you read at least 5 years ago?
Today's post is dedicated to one of my childhood favorites that I still find amazing. Sometimes the #bookstagram community is so focused on the newest book, but I think older books need some love to.
The Hero and the Crown is about an outcast daughter of the "witch queen" that supposedly bewitched the king into marrying her. Ungifted and recovering from a prank that made her seriously ill, Aerin discovers an old recipe in the back of a book that creates an ointment to shield things from fire. In a realm where small dragons are common, this ointment could be a crucial part in making dragon slaying an easier, safer task. But king's daughters should not kill dragons. When an even bigger threat looms on the horizon, will Aerin be ready to risk it all for a kingdom that has mocked her her entire life?
And because Aerin is so fierce, I had to include this amazing Slay Your own Dragons candle from @novelheartbeatcreations Get your own and save 10% by using code PARCHMENT10 :) . .
I really need to start this series soon because Obsidio is coming in March and I'm excited!! (The color of Obsidio's cover is super duper pretty!! Have you seen it? I really love the metallic and shinny color of the cover!! It looks like it sparkles too!!) 😍
QOTD: What are you currently reading?
Day 17 #duskangeljan18 is bookish merch! Notice how almost all of it is Harry Potter related.... I could have included so much more (blanket, robes, rucksack, time turner, deathly hallows necklace etc but didn’t want to pack the picture even more!!! I’m going to post my signed by the full original cast copy of cursed child later though: but that deserves its own post! I especially love my “when in doubt, go to the library” bag and my butter beer cork necklace that one of my students made me (2 years ago!) but is still one of my favourite possessions. I’ve also thrown in my gruffalo hangers. I love the gruffalo! And my mug of bookmarks!
I’ve read two of @sarahcrossanwriter’s most popular books, ‘Apple and Rain’ and the Carnegie Mellon Award-shortlisted book, The Weight of Water.
Both these books are special in their own way, so I can’t decide which of the two I like better.
Apple and Rain is written in a typical narrative style, while The Weight of Water is written in free verse.
I love how lyrical The Weight of Water is; at the same time, I love how much Apple and Rain moves me. On that note, Apple and Rain is probably her best work to date. She has come quite a long way since her first book.
Before reading the book, the first thought that came to my mind when I heard Apple and Rain was, “Hmm, this book is just another sappy story about some torn-up teenager who turns to her love of apples and rain for comfort. I don’t have high expectations for this book. (that was a pretty pessimistic first impression)”
That wasn’t the case. Apple, the main character, is in her early teenage years, but the tone of her voice is quite mature for someone around her age, which I admire. The character development is another trait of the book that I enjoy. It’s not fast-paced, which gives me time to savor every detail of Apple’s rather bleak life.
P.S. This book kickstarted my occasional hobby of writing poems. Read and you’ll find out why. :) Never have I ever read a book written in prose. Reading The Weight of Water was a great starter. The book entails the journey of Kasienka and her mother, hailing from Poland, into England. They are trying to find Cassie’s father.
I admire her bravery in navigating through a world full of challenges, including language barriers and making friends. Also, I tip my hat off to Sarah Crossan for writing on several hard-to-touch-on themes in prose.
I definitely recommend this to those who are looking for new reads this weekend. Pick these up next time you stop by to a book store :) #book#bookreview#bookish#reading#bookish#bibliophile#ilovereading#bookclub#bookworm#bookstagram#yalit#youngadult#ya#lecture#instadaily @bloomsburypublishing #unitedbookstagram#booksofinstagram#bookchallenge#bookcollection#readingchallenge#readingtime

Oh how I have missed Veronica Roth books. Imagine two worlds one brutal and ruled by a tyrant, in the other a son of a farmer who is captured by the other worlds soldiers. I should also mention that this paperback copy also has a special Divergent epilogue! *sets off confetti*🙈 (Also the cover is to die for)
Gloomy afternoon from this side, folks! I tried doing my own journal (and I don't know if I'll like it because my penmanship isn't really great for this kind of hobby. 😂) Also, it's still pretty blank since I want to buy washi tapes, colored pens and markers, and other art materials first. I don't think I could buy them yet this month tho. ☹
QOTD: What song are you currently playing on loop?
➡️ I really love This Is Me from The Greatest Showman... I feel so empowered while listening to it. I haven't watched the movie yet tho... such a bummer. 😕
I got tagged by my sissy, @worlds.through.words (Who's just been back!! Yiipee!!) to do the #15words challenge/tag.
👧 AILUROPHILE - I do like dogs but I do love cats more!! 🐱
👧 BIBLIOPHILE - That's already given...
👧 LIBROCUBICULARIST - I prefer reading on my bed than a chair.
👧 DAYDREAMER - I daydream most of the time... who doesn't?
👧 AMBIVERT - I do like going out with friends but it drains me quite fast so most of the times I like being alone.
👧 SWEET-TOOTH - Sugar rush? What's that? *bites in a chocolate bar*
👧 COFFEEHOLIC (is that even a word?) -I absolutely love coffee, especially Vanilla Iced Coffee and Caramel Macchiato.

👧 NIGHT-OWL/NOCTURNAL - I love staying up late at night then sleep most of the day.

👧 MOODY - I could get happy to angry real quick.
👧 BOYISH - I do feel more comfortable in shirts, pants, and sneakers than dresses and heels. And sometimes I act kinda rough. 🤣 (I'm not a tomboy tho)
Last day of the working week for me! 🎉
I’ve got so many books to read, and two whole days to read some... and near the top of the list is An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. I’ve heard so many good things about this book, so I’m really looking forward to reading it!
📚Have you read this book? What did you think of it?
It's 3AM, why am I still awake. 🙄
I'm thinking of starting up my blog soon 😊 I made it so long ago but never had the time (or will) to truly work on it until now. We'll see how it goes.
Do you guys blog/make videos? 🙂
Also the sweet @raamatukoguhoidja tagged me to do #asidefrombooks so here it is! 😊

"Nothing Mari. Not land, not your family. Not our family. Not our enemies. Not even death. Wherever you go, I will follow you. I wouldn't be able to function without that darn finger stabbing in my chest everytime you get mad. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night without holding you in my arms, knowing you're safe. I wouldn't be able to live without you in my life." - Atlantis; the King's Return by D.K. Combs 🧜🐬Ariël has always been and will always be my favorite Disney Princess and I'm still convinced I've been a mermaid in a previous life, lol. Reading re-tellings/books regarding cameo's from the Little Mermaid has been such a joy so far! And I can't wait to read more mermaid re-tellings. My favorite is definitely Atlantis; the King's Return by D.K. Combs, which isn't a little mermaid re-telling persé but it has several elements in it and cameo's from the Disney story. It has an adult romance, which spices things up a bit.. It's a phenomenal read ❤ Check out my blog for an extended non-spoiler review on this book! I also immensely enjoyed the Syrena Legacy by Anna banks en Goddess of the Sea by P.C. Cast was a great read as well. Still need to read poor unfortunate souls. 🧜🐬Do you have a favorite mermaid re-telling? Please let me know, I'm so curious! I got quite a wishlist already with mermaid reads but love to find more!
Have a nice day, lovelies ❤
Australian Horror Story: last week, my neighbour came in from the garden to find his little boy teasing a funnel web spider. The kid was lying on his stomach and tapping the carpet in front of the deadly monster as it reared up with fangs bared. A child once died within 15mins of being bitten by one of these venom droolers, so you can just imagine that time-freeze, blood-drain, throat-clench moment of realisation.🕷🕷🕷
Then I was discussing the incident with my mum and she told me another slithery tale. Her friend’s two-year-old grandson came in from the yard one day to show her the red-bellied black snake he’d somehow picked up. Perhaps because he was holding it gently, unaware of the danger, the thing was just curled up calmly in his hands. Unfortunately, when his grandma freaked, the kid panicked and squeezed. The snake no longer wanted to be friends. It reared up and sank its teeth into the chubby toddler flesh.*🐍🐍🐍
But, like, the beaches are nice here. And the weather’s lovely. Also, don’t my new books make a pretty ombré?😁 *Don’t worry, the red-belly is only our tenth deadliest snake and they got him to casualty before the blood coagulation and neuro-muscular damage set in.🤷🏼♀️ #bookishombre#bookstack#booksandcandles#horrorstory#straya#rosequartz

— Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I finished Shadow and Bone today. It was one of those reads that I couldn’t put down, so I’ll have a lot to say when I give my review on the piece within the next couple of days.
⠀⠀ The relationship between Alina and Mal reminded me of a couple of other couples that seemed like complete opposites, but were utterly lost without each other after they met. Not only do these bookmarks from @stellabookishart showcase said relationships beautifully, they smell amazing and even a month after they came, still fill the air with their lovely fragrances whenever I use them.
⠀⠀ My time with Stella is coming to an end. I actually cried about it earlier 😂😂 I did NOT expect that, haha. It’s just been an AMAZING experience working with her and friends, if you are passionate about her products, please check out the rep search she’s holding until the 22nd. Until the 31st you can use DAR15 for 15% off her Etsy shop, You can also enter the giveaway I hosting with her a little further down on my page. 🖤

QOTD: Do you take your photos daily or in one big photoshoot? 🖤
I’m a photoshoot kinda person. I spend the whole morning one day taking photos and spend the afternoon editing the whole lot! It’s a lot of work but I’m so happy with my new theme.
I have a 9 o’clock class today which means I’ve been up since 5:30. Got a train to catch! Anyone else commute on a daily basis?
