I know guys - I'm actually posting a book that's NOT fantasy! Like whaaat 😂 But let's talk about this book for a second.
Most of you guys don't know this but I'm actually Korean-American (woohoo)! So when I found a historical fiction book focusing on a Korean family through the early 1900s, I knew I had to give it a read. It also doesn't hurt that all the reviews I've been seeing were so positive ✌ And so I read it. And LOVED it ❤ In fact, it might even be my favorite historical fiction novel. I've attached the synopsis below so give it a read!
Pachinko follows one Korean family through the generations, beginning in early 1900s Korea with Sunja, the prized daughter of a poor yet proud family, whose unplanned pregnancy threatens to shame them all. Deserted by her lover, Sunja is saved when a young tubercular minister offers to marry and bring her to Japan.
So begins a sweeping saga of an exceptional family in exile from its homeland and caught in the indifferent arc of history. Through desperate struggles and hard-won triumphs, its members are bound together by deep roots as they face enduring questions of faith, family, and identity.

“Asha glanced up. The look in his eyes made her breath catch. It was like looking into the heart of a star: bright and burning.”
I was blown away with The Last Namsara. Seriously, it is phenomenal. It has dragons, storytelling, and so many twists! It made me think of the fantasy novels I read when I was in middle school and how those made me love the genre. I was reading The Quickening series by Fiona McIntosh and the Saga of the Noble Dead by Barb and J.C. Hendee, which are great. This book reminded me of them. They aren’t similar in terms of plot or anything like that. They’re just great fantasy stories!
What was your last five star read?
#frenchiefantasydecember : book w/ made up holiday
#decinbooks17 : your latest 5 star read
#fanaticalbirddecember : swoon-worthy romance

Sparks! THE RECKONERS is insane!
A friend of mine told me Calamity is a bad book. I won’t disagree.
Bad books are good books because it ends, and good books are bad books because it SPARKING ends!!! THIS BOOK IS VERY BAD.
From Steelheart to Calamity all I do is catch my breath as it is full of action, explosion, theories on how to defeat the Epic and of course my breathtaking Megan. She is probably the most beautiful girl in my imagination! And I would really like to read a book where story is taken from her perspective during Firefight (and can someone please explain why book 2 called Firefight?). Calamity! Where to begin?
Story and characters - Some parts are very predictable for me like the twist on the Steelheart as story reminds me of G I Joe and who the violet orb in the sky is. The thing that made my jaw dropped was the ending of Fightfight. I really love how the story progress until it went to the finale. Every character possesses different voice and unique personality which is what I usually look for in a book. I hope not to forget this book too soon as I really fell in love with it. I’m very satisfied with everything that happened with the ending is heartwarming.
Settings - From a city made of steel, to a city submerge in water up to the city made of salt. How cool to live on a place like that? Not so cool I agree, especially when a high epic rule that place. But David and his team in won’t let you down as the final book will explain all the twist, will resolve the biggest question, and will save the world with his nerdy tricks.
Romance – I don’t know what to say other than I loved it! I fell on my KNEES within seconds the first time I met her. The maturity of MY relationship with Megan. How WE complement each other. The jokes and metaphors!
Over all I, Roswind from this universe rate the series 5/5 and I bet Roswinds from another universe would also agree and rate the same. Reckoner and Brandon Sanderson, I welcome you to my top list.
p.s: If you love this I guess you will also love Lorien Legacy series.
Any action/sci-fi recommendations?
I’m alive! I know it’s been awhile but I got sick and then college killed me 🙃 this is my last book for the 2017 #popsugarreadingchallenge it’s for the prompt ‘book over 800 pages’. I picked this up second hand for €4 so it’s pre loved but I don’t mind 💞
QOTD: Who is an author that means the world to you? and have impacted you in some way?
I'm alive guys!
Sorry for being a little MIA. I have so many tags to catch up on, and comments and DMs so I apologise for the lateness in any of my responses.
I just haven't been feeling too good, nor am I as enthusiastic about my theme anymore. I feel like I've reached full capacity with how creative I can get with it. I mean theres only so much you can do with my bed side cabinet heh 😂
So I don't know. I haven't decided where I'd like to take it next, but I'd like a change. Maybe more vintage? or lighter tones? I dunno, I'll see what happens.
How often do you change your theme? or do you even change it at all?

With me not really blogging any more, i thought I’d try something a little different for my end of year favourite reads this year and do something similar to what I do on my albums of the year list over on @bart154ce_vinyl.
But I’m going to break it down in to a few categories first. so to start with and not shown in any particular order, and chosen by completely arbitrary rules… Here are my favourite 3 audiobooks I’ve listened to this year.
Day 16: #ecaverypotterchristmas - J.K. Rowling: #femaleauthor#bluebooks#bookandflower

Random thought: What do you want to receive this christmas? (aside from books 😂)
⚠ POST PROVISOIRE ⚠
Bonjour Bookstagram !

I promise I enjoy the revision process. 🤪
Oh, well, hello there, Magic Book Trap Box. I am Grumps. I just found your rep search like 5 minutes ago, and since last minute ideas are always a great idea, here we are.
If we’re being honest, I probably shouldn’t be applying since rep searches usually involve all of us bashfully showing off our fancy Instagram skills and tooting our own horn. I, however, am more likely in the corner giggling because someone said the word “toot”.
I swear I am an adult please believe me
Anyways, it is after a long and heated discussion with Mini Grumps (fearless fluffy assistant of the Shih Tzu variety) that we have decided we accept the highly regarded position of Magic Book Trap rep. I mean—*coughs*—apply. Apply for the highly regarded position of Magic Book Trap rep.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am a grump and a Gryffindor to my gryffincore. I frown a lot and I frown a lot more when random dudes on the street tell me to smile. I am from the mystical region of D.C. where I once met a man who carried all the ingredients for a mimosa in his backpack. I have since called him Mimosa Man.
I also get off topic fairly easily.
I generally post every two days, chat with fellow bookstagrammers about how awful today was, and strive to express the inner grump we all feel within. I wage war on Bookstealers and I judge—I mean read a lot of YA, Fantasy, Mystery, and Classic lit books.
Oh and also I think book subscriptions are the coolest because who doesn’t like receiving a box magic? (the mail man. The mailman does not like this. And he does not appreciate me stalking him when I know materials of the book variety are near). ☹️
Sincerely, Grumps #mbtwinterrepsearch
🎶On the fourth day of Grumpsmas, the book world gave to me🎶
🎶Four unwanted sequels
two shirtless hot dudes🎶
🎶And a plain girl with a destinyyyy🎶
I just want someone to look at me the way Mini Grumps looks at eggnog.
When I write up my 2018 reading goals this book is going to be on the “must read” list because I can’t believe I still haven’t read it! After preordering it back in the day 😅 What’s a book you really want to get to in 2018?
🦊🏕Look what I found today: “The Wonderling” by Mira Bartok. The stunning cover (and cute fox) on this middle-grade novel drew me in even though I wasn’t book shopping. And what a wonderful adventure it sounds to be. I’ve opened it and read excerpts a couple of times and the poems and songs remind me of The Hobbit. I can’t wait to read this. ✨
🖌Synopsis: Welcome to the Home for Wayward and Misbegotten Creatures, an institution run by evil Miss Carbunkle, a cunning villainess who believes her terrified young charges exist only to serve and suffer. Part animal and part human, the groundlings toil in classroom and factory, forbidden to enjoy anything regular children have, most particularly singing and music.
For the Wonderling, an innocent-hearted, one-eared, fox-like eleven-year-old with only a number rather than a proper name a 13 etched on a medallion around his neck it is the only home he has ever known. But unexpected courage leads him to acquire the loyalty of a young bird groundling named Trinket, who gives the Homes loneliest inhabitant two incredible gifts: a real name Arthur, like the good king in the old stories and a best friend. Using Trinkets ingenious invention, the pair escape over the wall and embark on an adventure that will take them out into the wider world and ultimately down the path of sweet Arthurs true destiny.
I really wish it was socially acceptable to leave this up year round. The lights make me so happy. 🎄😊
