So, we were pretty much the only ones excited by the prospect of visiting this pub. It's the pub that @alexbaer's grandparents met in over 70 years ago, during the war.
He, a GI and she, a British ambulance driver met here, began dating and married on VE Day.
He soon returned home and she shortly followed. They lived in the US, happily married for 72 years. He sadly passed recently. She is a wonderful lady, who retains her spirit, vigour and British accent at an incredible 94 years old.
We visited this pub as a nostalgic little trip and when we showed his family the photo they didn't bat an eyelid. 😂 The romantic in me is amazed it's there 70-odd years later, and thought it adorable to visit and have a pint where the beautiful couple started their lives together. 💖
It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings. "The Real Work" by Wendell Berry. Thanks @kateross7074 for the poetry inspiration! 💫☁️ my photo #tbt to #bolivia#yearslatergram#geiser#hike#travel
