This time last year I was in LA having a quiet thanksgiving with @thefloathaven. We had a slow day (I was also a little sick at the time) and went to China Town for Vietnamese Phó. It seemed like everyone left in LA had come to this little spot for Friendsgiving dinner. It was a feast. During this time last year people were camping at Standing Rock in protest and the oppression of the Native American people had never been so clear in the media. Last year was the first year I chose to not have a conventional Thanksgiving. I find it absolutely awful that the true history of Thanksgiving Day - which was a mass genocide of the Native American people- is never taught in schools. It’s painted as a picture perfect scene with pilgrims and Native Americans sharing a peaceful meal. For many Native Americans Thanksgiving is a day of mourning. So, let us not forget the history of Thanksgiving. Sure, be kind, give thanks, be grateful, show appreciation, share a meal with loved ones, but also be mindful. I don’t think you need a designated holiday to do those things. And for goodness sake, teach our children real history!

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving. I had such a great time today with the family. Started my day off with some hot yoga. Then started the cooking and enjoying time with my boys. Had an amazing dinner with the family. Did a little shopping now time to relax. I am truly blessed to have such amazing people in my life. I am thankful everyday and grateful for all god has given me.
May the next few months be a period of magnificent transformation. 🙏 I am grateful for this past year the most. And everyone who contributed to my growth & love. Your support is recognized & greatly appreciated. 🙏Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving. 🦃

THEN vs NOW.
I found an old photo of my forward fold- it was just last year!!! I had super tight hamstrings as you can tell from the picture, my belly was nowhere near my thigh, my nose was continents apart from my knee, alignment was totally off.
All I wanted was to get my palms flat on the mat which made everything wrong. I was stubborn and refused to bend my knees- I remember thinking it was embarrassing to have the knees bent or to use blocks. So silly 😅
I’ve learnt now and I use props all the time, it’s fine. Bye ego! There’s no shortcut in yoga and it takes time, loads of time. But trust me, it is all worth it.
I hope this keeps you going, do not stop when it gets hard 💕

Today I reminisced at my old stomping grounds @puravidafitnessandspa during the 8:30am yoga with @billyyogaworldwide. This was the perfect class for today because this is where the idea for my #yogaproject108 was born. Everything that has happened to me this year has lead me in the direction of pursuing my passion. It has been a difficult but necessary road. I’ve cried so many tears. During the hardest of times some of my favorite people in the yoga community were there for me whether they knew it or not. I have officially completed 84 days of my #yogaproject108 . I spent the rest of the day with my family, my dad and my puppy. Went for a run, did more yoga. Lol. I am beyond grateful for what this practice has taught me and I have so much love in my heart for all the people listed above and many many more that I will Thank at the end of my journey. This is only the beginning of a new chapter in my life and I can’t wait to see where this road takes me next. I wake up every day hoping to inspire others through my practice and hopefully my teachings. Yoga is my greatest teacher and can be yours too. Taking a rest day today, so just some gentle movement and a couple restorative postures to calm my nervous system this evening (this photo is not from today). Part of our homework over the past few weeks has been to develop our daily meditation practices. Meditating every day is definitely helping me become more tuned-in to myself, but I’m struggling to find a certain time each day that I can commit to as meditation time. I’ve been doing it in the mornings, but I feel that some mornings I’m a bit too groggy, and that maybe I need to try another time of day for a while. So I’m going to move to evening meditations tonight and see if that works better for me. Do you have a daily meditation practice? If so, what time(s) of day works best for you?
Grateful for my family and friends and the life that I have. That the people I’m surrounded by are a community of well intentioned, thoughtful people who do the best for themselves and the people in their life. It’s a beautiful thing to love and support each other.
