🌻#YOGAEVERYDAMNDAY#YOGAGIRLCHALLENGE with @yoga_girl DAY 22🌻
Talk about too much stuff, not enough space. Sorry, mirror, but headstand practice is fair game.
I got my wish. A normal day. Normal classes with good homework feedback, not too much to do today, and nothing to think about. There is extraordinary in the ordinary. I don't take it for granted as much as I used to. And I LOVE. THE. RAIN. I think I already said that, but it is fall, the best season of all, especially in New England, and I am excited for chilly weather and pumpkins (which I used to like when everyone used to think it was GROSS by the way). Fall is my all time favorite, and I'm not just saying that because 'tis the season. Whenever another season comes around, that is not suddenly my favorite season (ESPECIALLY summer) and I feel like it's something so many people do. It's ok to like the time of season you're in, but don't go betrayin' your true favorite! Haha I can say hands down fall is my ZONE. It can be a solemn time because my poppop died almost 10 years ago and my dad was diagnosed almost a year ago, but I just can't seem to shake the attachment. I love the colors, the cold, the FOOD, and HALLOWEEN YOU GUYS OH MY GOODNESS. CUE THE TIM BURTON FILMS PLS. What ginger costume will I come up with this year? I've got some ideas.
Friday's are my fun day's. It's the only day in my practice I still use a video. A few months back I started adding this into my practice again. You can see it sped up by swiping. This is last week the whole thing is about 1.15 hrs. I absolutely love Rodney Yee's advanced arm balance and hip opening video. When I first restarted my yoga journey almost 5 years ago I did all videos for the first 2 years of it. Every 6 weeks I made 6 days of consistent practice I would reward myself with a new video. This was the first time I ever saw arm balances being put together with headstands and pincha. Plus so many being done in one practice!! (I hadn't found IG yet) It's where I learned my first flying pigeon. Which came from months of trying to lift up from a headstand. I had no idea there was an easier way!!! 🤦🏼♀️ But this THIS was the move that made me drop my jaw back then and think he had lost his mind. I never dreamed I would get that lower. Especially after all my shoulder crap. I got it over this last year, but it has come and gone. But these last few weeks it has gotten more and more consistent of actually landing on my arms!!! I only work it once a week and in the video he lowers to the floor after. Thanks to ig I know that somehow you CAN get back up 😱. So this was my attempt after practicing today trying to lift it up 😂 I was feeling the work going on so that's a start. It really just looked like I was sliding down my arms 😂. But gotta start somewhere. If your wondering how many different arm balances I work on in this scroll another time. It shows each one and how many total lifts by the end. I love that it's just enough to not wear me out. It's one of the reasons I love Friday's so much. I post for #canyouguesstheposes , take the kids to school, come home and do this, then head off to teach Vinyasa Flow, eat a quick lunch, get the kids, rest a bit and finally go watch my 2 youngest dance in their hip hop class. It's always a great start to my weekend even though it's probably my most structured and consistent day of the week. The older I get the more I seem to rebel about having to do the same thing all the time. Life's to short!!
#yogaeverydamnday Day 22.
Today is the first day of Fall. Ordinarily, today would be a joyous one, filled with every possible reason to dance about outside in anticipation of falling leaves, and preemptively wearing scarves and boots even if it's a bit warm for it.
Instead I had a horrible day. Whatever. But I did have a fantastic yoga sesh, didn't record any of it, so hey look! A throw back picture to one of my very first bow poses 🤗 @yoga_girl #yogagirlchallenge
I don't want myself to think over anything twice.
Can there be this much clarity ?
If no, then I will make it happen.
I will use my body to fill the gap between mind& spirit.
I will use my breathe to sustain everything & refine the relationship between me & my higher self.
I can do this & this is made for me.
There is no failure, there is only progress while learning to fall down & back up again.
There is no competition but a feeling of bliss within , that awaits you. That bliss is incomparable to anything. That is yours to experience & feel.
There is nothing that you don't have already. Give this a thought.
Go beyond your limitations, look at yourselves as you roll your eyes at others.
Whether it is education or sports , zeal makes the difference.
Passion makes you what you are.
Age is not going to disturb you when the intentions & efforts meet in the right direction.
Be it running, aerobics , swimming , yoga , travel or Gymnasium.
This is only you who chose to be a swimmer or dancer, singer or a painter , just dive deep.
There is no time to be normal & contemplate.
This is the time when you lift yourself up & help others to grow too.
Making freinds with the "self" is important folks.
This much is enough to start with.
Talk to others as you talk to yourself.
One who understands this simple fact of communication & respect , starts to know all.
Are you here for eternity ? Why not use your entire life to love & care. What would you get apart from the wish of wanting more &more . Will it even end ?
Let's try to give & give ( I am not talking about materials )
It is about the vibes & energies that surrounds you.
Wherever you go, wherever you are . Be there 100 percent. That's what brings magic.. Education is secondary, sense is primary. Use it.
Self Desires are secondary , service is primary. Be in it.
Money is secondary, character is primary. Maintain it.
Thought is secondary, intention is primary. Purify it.
Inaction is a poison, Action is supreme. Go for it.
Act now & be simplified in all forms.
This is the ultimate nature of a being.
Happy weekend !

Here we are on day 2 of #summertimewrapup ☀️ with one of my personal favorites... #bedpose 💙 For this pose, take your legs into hero's pose and come down into a reclined position. Feel free to use pillows (or anything comfy) under your back for a little added comfort. I actually like to do this one without props because it feels great on my back!! Swipe to see a different variation.... ✨ Don't forget to check in with my beautiful co-hosts for their variations! .

Have a heart that never hardens,
and a temper that never tries,
and a touch that never hurts.
- Charles Dickens
Bridge pose is one of my absolute favorite heart openers 💛 if you do yoga, what's your favorite heart opener? ✨
If you dont like what you see then dont look at it. Let it be, there is no need to for you to try to understand why some people do what they do with their life ~ wise words from dad, on social media and everything else that irritates us in life. 😂 Its true, social media has got us spending too much energy with what others are doing that we sometimes forget to mend our own garden.
Anywayssss, will be teaching at this new studio @yoga_spacekl on Monday 8.15am! Come catch me then! 😊💕
✨HOW TO HOLLOW-TUCK HANDSTAND✨
Time for Day 21 of your #HandstandHomework 💪🤸🏻♀️for HOLLOW-TUCK Handstands!
You guys are ALMOST there 🙌🏼🙌🏼We did tuck handstands on Day 9 (check out the exercises to work more on that) - adding a hollowback in the tuck position! I was obsessed with this handstand variation last year and wanted to do it at every opportunity 😂 The hollowback tuck position opens the shoulders and chest without crunching in the low back
1. Warm up chest/shoulders on the ground with puppy dog, knees on ground and legs straight
2. Lay on your back with knees tucked to chest. Have a friend sit on your shins for more compression 💪 (communicate how much pressure you want so they don't crush you 😂) you can also press down on the feet!
3. Tuck up into handstand (see drills in Day 9 video)
4. Tuck knees down to chest + heels to butt and have partner compress your tuck
5. Stay in tuck and start to open shoulders and chest for hollowback - counterbalance your weight by shifting your forearms back. Partner can help with balance and support the low back as well!
Try this out and let us know how it goes! ❤️ ---------------------

I just listened to The Big Man Can't Shoot. It's an episode off Malcom Gladwell's podcast Revisionist History.
In it he talks about the Threshold Model of Collective Behavior, an idea created by sociologist Mark Granovetter. .
Basically, you have either a low or a high threshold. Low threshold means you don't need much approval of or examples from others in order to change your behavior. High threshold means you really need other people approving of or exhibiting a certain behavior before you will adopt it for yourself. Surprisingly, really high threshold people won't change their behavior for the better even if they know and admit it is for the better.
I think I am mostly a low threshold person.
I have always been quick to try something new. Switching majors in school. Trying new diet and exercise regimes. Making new friends, acquiring new hobbies, going new places... etc etc
Sounds nice, but there's a flip side. There's a lot of potential for wasted time when you suddenly lose interest in things and start something else from scratch. And sure, I make friends easily, but I can burn that bridge as easily as I build it. .
I'm also high threshold in a couple regards. I'm pretty sure a healthy dose of extroversion would do me a lot of good but it's taking me a while to swallow that pill. Also, I know a regular sleep schedule is a great idea but have suuuuuch a hard time getting up with my alarm.
Where do you fall? 🙃
And check out Revisionist History if you're into podcasts!
