This Saturday I'm teaching a 2 hour workshop about how to headstand.
No, you don't have to stand on your head for 2 hours 😂😂 We'll discover how to build the strength needed and how to stabilize yourself so you don't flip over once you're up. We'll go through a step by step process to eventually possibly headstand.
I know not everyone who reads this will be able to attend, so I've got a little tip for you now, if you'd like it, for how to activate the muscles surrounding the spine to help you with head-standing. ☀️Sitting upright, with your pelvis in the position that allows your spine to be like a line if your were looking at it from behind. In other words, aligned, rather than 'scrunched up.' Place your hand on the top of the centre of your head at the fontanelle, where the soft spot was when you were a baby. The place we call Brahma Randhra. Gently press upwards towards your hand with your head whilst simultaneously pressing downwards with your hand. Press upwards towards your hand from your pelvis and spinal column for a couple of breaths while you gently press downwards with your hand. This helps you feel the action of the paraspinous muscles and a lovely sense of lightness in your spine afterwards.
