🎊Repost from @vesic_jelena - Will you play along with @davidrobsonyoga and I in our new challenge? We’re teaming up with @werkshop to bring more awareness to the inner work behind the outer form of Asana.
Did you ever notice how a particular sensation in the body triggers specific emotional reactions? Does backbending make you tear up or giggle? Do twists make you panic or do they make you feel alive and blissful? In practice, there are asanas that makes us laugh, and then there are those that make us angry and sad. The spiritual journey is, after all, as deeply emotional as it is physical.
We believe that Asana bring us closer to yoga when it’s used as a screen to reveal the impermanent nature of our thoughts and feelings. Understanding this truth can lead to more freedom and less suffering. But first you have to be willing to explore.
We also believe that good gear makes the practice more fun, and fun will get you on your mat more often.
Are you in? Here’s how to participate:
1. Follow @vesic_jelena, @davidrobsonyoga and @werkshop;
2. Repost this collage and tag friends who may want to join us;
3. Post a photo each day for the eighth days of yourself;
4. Tag @vesic_jelena, @davidrobsonyoga and @werkshop in each of your posts and use the hashtag #innerwerk .
At the end of challenge the kind people at @werkshop will be giving away some prizes. So be sure to participate every day for your chance to win.
Rabbit pose is one of those poses that's sooo perfect after backbends. I always visualize my shoulder blades coming apart and toward my ears. It feels soooo good between the shoulder blades 👌👌

I had an amazing photo shoot with @madisonphotography.studio today, so I had her snap my challenge pic for me😉 Day 5 of the @yogiapproved #yawinterchallenge is Yogi Squat or #malasana . Doing yoga in nature has to be one of my favorite things. Especially on gorgeous, sunny days like today.☀️ Thanks for the great shoot today @madisonhamphotos!! ✌🙏🕉
Progression of the 3 leg dog 🐶 - flexibility and strength go hand in hand 🤚🏼 you cannot (safely) become flexible without gaining the muscle to do so and it's a slow, sometimes uncomfortable process.... but new space/freedom in the body (and the mind) feels good. Expect to experience some pain, some ugly truths, lots of mistakes, and heartache but it's all worth the journey. We are being molded into something even more beautiful with each breath 🙏🏼 thankful for it all. #yogajourney#yogaprogress#yogaeverydamnday#3leggeddog#yoga365#yogastrong#strongmom#yogamom

DAY 2 of #hathahotties (I feel a little silly writing that), but super happy I joined this yoga challenge because I had some serious motivation to do yoga after a long day at work. Tomorrow is a 24 hour shift in the peds ICU - day 7/7. It’s been a tough week....some weeks you can handle the pain and loss, and others it just seems more difficult. And this week it’s hard. I don’t know why...but it doesn’t matter why. What matters is I can feel the feelings and share. That is something I had no ability to do before I found yoga three years ago. I felt like I was loosing myself in my first year of peds critical care fellowship...one child would die, and I wouldn’t have a minute to process before going on to try to save the next. I bottled everything up and pretended like everything was fine. And then I found yoga, or yoga found me. And it gave me the ability to sit still again. It gave me the ability to start to feel again. And it gave me the ability to cope. For that, I am thankful. One of my favorite sayings about yoga is that we start right where we left off in our last life. This makes sense to me, because even in the beginning when I had no flexibility, no knowledge of yoga, and no physical ability to do many poses - it felt like I was home when I practiced...and that feeling hasn’t left me three years later. .
