Retreaters you are in for a treat! I had the pleasure of spending 3 hours with the amazing Ayurvedic Therapist, Natalie Roper yesterday. Natalie joins the Back to Nature team in Portugal and will be giving a talk on the science of Ayurveda as well as offering a range of treatments.
First we chatted about my well being and things that I felt are out of balance in my life. She then took a couple of pulse readings to establish my dosha and identified what was more dominant right now. Then a treatment plan was put into practice in a beautiful, gently lit, essential oil infused room with soft music in the background. The massage bed was heated too - bliss!
The aim was to pacify Vata and encourage a really grounding sensation, so she started with a hot rock back massage to help melt away some of the tension I was holding, particularly in my shoulders (all those headstands no doubt!) and erector spinae regions, before doing a meditative kati basti therapy to help soothe the lower back pain I sometimes feel from my lordosis (the reason my bum sticks out like a duck!) and also to help open the Muladhara and Svadhisthana chakras. She then did a mini pada abhyanga (foot massage) to work on the marma points here to help unblock any emotional tension and really relax and detox the body a bit (this treatments is also the BEST at encouraging deep sleep which is probably why I fell straight to sleep and can tell you nothing about the facial part!). She finished off with a mukha abhyanga - a face massage to help slow down and relax the central nervous system and bring some clarity to the third eye/Ajna chakra.
Kumari oil (good for female reproductive organs) and Brahmi amla oil (good for clarity and strength of mind) are what we used during the treatment.
Shortly after this treatment I went home and had a 4 hour siesta! Thank you Natalie Roper #ayurveda#therapy#dosha#healing#balancing#treatment#massage#facial#sleep#nourish#essentialoils#yogatetreat#backtonature#yoga#treatyourself#travel#chakras#loveyourself#healyourself
What would your Wise old woman say? I have often re-read Bronnie Ware's '5 Regrets of the Dying' to help support me through times when I felt overwhelmed, in pain, exhausted, and empty. We have a giant pool of wisdom from those who have trailblazed before us. For the Motherhood... .
💙 I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
💙 I wish I hadn't worked so much.
💙 I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
💙 I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
💙 I wish that I had let myself be happier.
There is a King sized bed left @oceanhousegreatoceanroad for the @mindful_tribes weekend 'Tired Mama Retreat' if your Wise Woman is calling you. 🦋
