I miss being able to do yoga outside in warm weather! This is my first attempt with Grasshopper. Hopefully as I build arm and core strength I can keep my hip off my anchored arm.
Thankfully I received my second @yogabossbabe box today, and it served as a pick-me-up. I had experienced a big disappointment with an event I recently hosted, and this box contains a book from Brené Brown, who is extremely uplifting. I need her words, and "The Gifts of Imperfection" is definitely something I need to study right now. I put a lot of emphasis on certain outcomes, and consider version "xyz" as the only measure of success. But that's not always the case! I gotta let go and embrace whatever results come my way.

For so long I've cared way too much about what people think of me. I am, after all, a people pleaser. I'm a middle child, and a peacekeeper too. I like to go with the flow and not step on any toes, so to speak. ✨
A couple years ago, I hired a life coach, and to this day, I can still hear her asking me, "why the f*ck do you care what they think?" But the truth is, it takes a conscious effort for me to let go of what others think of me, and I still often find myself wanting to (unnecessarily) ask for permission from others instead of trusting myself. ✨
On the blog this week, I talk about this need for permission, and how asking for help is much different that seeking permission or approval. Asking for help comes from a place of self-love and growth. Seeking permission comes from a place of fear and self-doubt. ✨

Day 2 of #PetsLoveUsDoingYoga is #crow pose / #bakasana / At this exact moment a bird did a nosedive into the window (hence Sadie’s alertness), and I jumped and almost slid right out of this onto my face! // Sadie is a pretty easy-going dog. Her favorite pastime is lounging. Every now and then she will come play with me on my mat (especially if I encourage it) but for the most part I respect her inner chill. 🤣 Most of the time, she watches my yoga from the nearest couch or bed, you know, to make sure no birds or lizards attack or interfere. 😂

Nothing is more wonderful than connecting with nature. I had the loveliest conversation with a farmer that described to me, with extraordinary detail, the seasonal patterns on his farm. He described the nature of his black walnut trees, the twisted and barren shapes they form during the winter, the process to gather and harvest the nut meat from their shells. The different songs the Baltimore Oriole sings during April, the change in song when the females arrive during May. The precise baskets they weave for their offspring. The intricacies of sap harvesting in February, the saps voyage from the tree roots to buds in the spring. These storied filled me with love and appreciation. I am so honored to see the love and light that came from his eyes when speaking about his home. He makes it his mission to share these wonderful experiences on his farm, so that they too find the love and grace nature brings. May we all be blessed to share love and appreciation for the beauty that exists before our eyes. So I loved (and needed) our vacation, but it was soooo nice to get back to my students. At the end of my first class this morning, my students said they really missed me and I said I missed them too and was happy to be back. They were like, "yeah right!! You don't need to lie to us!!" I was like, "I'm actually not, I love teaching you!!". I don't know if they believed me, but it's true. You know you have the best job in the world when you're happy to go back after a vacation!! 😄😄😄
