Jilalga Murray ( Nyangumarta / Martu Wangka / Yorta Yorta/ WambaWamba) - My lil sister is Minda Murray a professional cyclist in the Victoria & she is my hero!
Since NAIDOC Week this year I made a some changes to my life and chose to cut out meats and animal bi-products (milk,eggs, cheese etc) from my diet. I started with a 5week challenge at my local gym, to see if I had the will power to do so. I did it to see the changes in my body, and to test myself. I survived the 5weeks, with group classes and support. I quite enjoyed it and so decided to just keep on - keeping on.
What I've found is;
1-you can survive on plant based foods,
2-your taste buds adjust quickly and you don't crave the old things.
3-you can build muscle and lose fat on plant based foods.
4-you can raise your own awareness about eating& preparing fruit and veggies
5-you can subtly educate your family about more healthy options and healthy choices.
6-choosing to refuse the 'not so good' gets easier.
7-you can take comfort in knowing that no animal has died or been mistreated for you.
8-If you eat less process food/'eat cleaner', and take part in regular exercise, you'll feel great and you'll see your body change for the better.
I enjoy having conversations with my family about good food and healthy choices. I genuinely want to help with the wider movement of getting our mob healthier - so here I am, doing my bit and leading by example. #vegan#blackfitness#fitness#women 'sfitness #plantbaseddiet#exercise#processedfoods#yortayorta#buildmuscle#changing#transforming#fruitsandveggies#focused#motivating#inspiring#inspireothers
After nearly four weeks on Arrernte country, nursing mob from the central desert it's time for this Koorie to head to Yuendumu in the Tanami desert tomorrow 🖤💛❤️ Huge thanks to the purple house for the chance to work for you. This non profit org has been reuniting Indigenous families back on to their homelands after being relocated to Alice Springs for dialysis treatment. Dialysis nurses and equipment are now available in many remote communities through the desert thanks to this amazing organisation and the many people who showed leadership and drive to have their families home 🖤💛❤️I will be out bush for the next few weeks dialysing patients on their home country! So very grateful and privileged to have this opportunity 🖤💛❤️#aboriginal#indigenousnurses#bushdialysisnursing#remotenursing#koorie#yortayorta
