"You don't look sick" - You don't look ignorant ( swipe 👉🏻).
"Kayla you are so lucky you can eat anything and stay skinny" - I actually can't , Somedays I can't even eat anything even though I'm starving.
"Have a bite you're missing out by your diet" - it's not a diet it's so I can fight to keep my colon inside my body
"I understand I have IBS" -IBS is not IBD , IBS is a functional disorder , a spasm in your bowel. It does not cause inflammation , ulcers or any other damage to your bowels. Not saying IBS isn't painful just explaining the difference.
"Why are you so tired ?" - Blood loss , medication , pain , inflammation , abnormal responses by my immune system. You know those proteins and cells that make up the immune system protect you? Well my immune system mistakes food , bacteria and other substances for foreign substances. My body is constantly fighting itself. So yeah I'm f*cking tired.
"Have you changed your diet ?" - 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄.
"You work out too much & post too many pics " - I work out so I feel better mentally and physically. So I can build muscle and not let this disease take everything from me. So that I remember how far I have came and to show my hard work. I don't do it for vanity I do it cause I love myself and there is nothing wrong with that. I do it so others will do the same. .
Educate yourself If you don't know about a disease , ask questions don't assume. Some people don't show it but they are truly sick, before you judge anyone remember you do not know their story. I say it so much because I use to be that person, till I got sick and was on the other side. I embrace this , I own it , it's part of me but it will never define me.
Came into work today and saw this "I'm sorry" note and box of cookies left for me from a customer. My boss told me this woman had had a really bad day the day we spoke on the phone, and she took it all out on me...and she felt terrible about it. #bekindalways#youdontknowwhatsomeoneisgoingthrough
Share a smile with a stranger, you have no idea how far a smile can go! A lesson I learned a long time ago from a sweet old lady.
She told me that every time she was helped by me that I always smiled the entire time and she was very greatful for my smile. Particularly the time I'm thinking of she said I was the first smile she's had for days since her husband passed.
She told me that if I continued to go through life with a smile, that I may never know how many lives I'd touch, but I'd certainly touch many.
That was a very impacting moment for me at 14 yrs old and ever since when I make eye contact with a stranger I always smile at them. I have never once not got a smile back. :) #ShareASmile#YouDontKnowWhatSomeoneIsGoingThrough
