Today I finally introduced my in-laws to my Mom. We stood around her grave, decorated with flowers from my girls and a bottle of cream soda (inside family joke). My mother-in-law Muriel placed flowers in the little metal cup I remember years ago deciding to pay extra to have on the gravestone. I felt broke at the time —- suicide leaves behind so little money and I had a funeral to buy and college tuition still to pay. Still, I got the flower cup, and I am grateful, 29 years later.
As we left, my mother-in-law Muriel and I cried together, hugging; knowing what a deep and beautiful legacy these two women together had started — the moms of a boy and girl who would meet in Paris in 2000, marry and have four daughters together who are already doing great things just by showing up to life. We cried also because we both know that this graveside visit was so unnecessary; that if Mom could possibly have known what the future held, she would never have wanted to take her own life.
I miss mom, but after 29 years, the laughs are deep and often, and even tender memories I can usually share without tears.
What keeps me awake at night now: the person who will wake up in despair tomorrow and not see a way out. If that’s you: know you matter. Reach out. No one is like you and we need you, just like my girls need their grandma.
Nine years too long. This picture sums you up pretty well, goofy and loving. What I would give for another unattractive photo op of myself and for you to be in it. Miss you everyday little bro. If anyone is out there struggling ,reach out to someone ... you do matter #family#brother#youmatter#suicideawareness#love
There are totallly days (weeks, months?!) where I crave the warm, carefree days of summer. And not just because the weather. Because of how the season makes you feel. Open. Free. Light. Adventurous. As winter starts to encroach on us (don’t get me wrong...I’m all for hygge + cozy snowday cuddles - although I’m not sure how much CA gets that shizz), I am trying to keep that Summer Mindset inside of me. That ability to just go with the warm breeze and see where life takes me. That fire under my skin and my feet to keep going + slow down at the same time. And that relaxed smile that only comes after drinking in a day of the sun 😌✨Hope you can all channel that bright energy today for a little bit loves 🌟
Don't let anyone define who you are
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” #beyou#mindset#positive#strong#fitmom#youmatter

Push-ups Challenge Day 2/22
I was nominated by @juduthaj to do 22 push-ups a day for the next 22 days to raise awareness of Veterans dealing with PTSD.
On average 22 Vets a day commit suicide. Too many of our Heroes are taking their own life!
Push-ups alone will not solve the problem, but this challenge is designed to raise awareness for a very real problem in the U.S. 🇺🇸 Today I nominate @spartan__t to take part in this challenge and to also promote awareness.
Let me count the ways...
So I went online and took the free “Love Languages” test by Gary Chapman, and these are my results! First at the top, fifth on bottom. I guess words really matter to me. 🤔
I’d TOTALLY recommend giving this quiz a try. It’s a wonderful way to discover how you feel (and give) love, and if you choose to share with friends it can really help enhance and strengthen communication, because you know what is meaningful to each other. ✨
Beautiful women, who happen to be single: If you're not feeling your best, gift yourself time to be real, heal, love.
Be good to yourself: Flowers, spas, good books, laughs with friends, holiday decorating, a new scent, prayer journaling, whatever being good to you means, do it. Know your love language for you. Tag a friend who needs to read this!❤️💕💕 #loveyourself#youmatter#cultivate#yourbeautiful#tiffytalks 😘 #GetEngaged#Godlovesyou Repost: @mint4curls
