The deadlift is a basic human movement.
Other than the squat, there might not be another movement that is more “functional.” From the grocery store, to moving a piece of furniture, to picking your child up off the floor – you are deadlifting (and probably with poor form!). We love coaching the deadlift to our newest clients because we believe in the carry over this movement has in everyday life.
One Thursday a month we spend our afternoons at the nursing home in town. The children and the elderly play amongst each other in the recreation room. We read a story and set out games, puzzles, card games and a craft. They interact so well with little prompting. I can see budding relationships forming already. The residents and the children are benefiting immensely from this program. We are so blessed to have this opportunity. 🙏🏻 #blessed#homeschool#intergeneration#storiesandcrafts#youngandold#nursinghome
St Matthew and the Angel, Guido Reni, 1635-40
Oil on canvas
85 x 68 cm
Guido Reni (1575 – 1642) was an Italian painter of high-Baroque style. One of the Baroque master’s most exquisite works is his depiction here of the dialogue of inspiration between aged-looking St Matthew the Evangelist and the angel. The angel communicates the verses of the gospel to St Matthew via an almost hypnotic gaze rather than any spoken word. St Matthew subsequently records with a quill on the blank pages of his book the divine words of inspiration.
The particular choice of colour, the close intense cropping of the picture, with the diagonal positioning of the St Matthew’s upper body, the highlighting of the hair and fingers, are all very reminiscent of Caravaggio, who was at the time regarded as Reni’s artistic adversary.
Guido Reni repeated the theme of the apostles and evangelists several times. There are in existence two copies of the evangelist series in Rome and Naples. The St Matthew is very similar in typology to those of the two series, it could be part of yet another lost series.
Recommended music accompaniment:
St Matthew Passion, BWV 244, a sacred oratorio from the Passions written by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1727. St Matthew Passion is hailed as the greatest setting of the Passion story in western music. It sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew (in the German translation of Martin Luther) to music, with interspersed chorales and arias.
I'm super excited to share this from my friend Rachel Kalbach!🙂👇Wow! “#Eczema .
Avoidance. Sensitivities. Creams. Antibiotics. Itchy. Hot. Miserable.
This makes me cry.
My Haley girl was given those suggestions at her 3 1/2 year check up by her doctor and so I was fully prepared to start removing things from her diet. To seek out next steps for food allergy testing, etc.
Around September I started my girls on a different multivitamin (which now also contains probiotics). 😮😮 When you start seeing relief for your kids this takes on a whole new meaning of #healing !!!! 💕💕 As a Mama this means so much to me. That Haley girl is not having to avoid for #foodsensitivities or # #allergies , be medicated with antibiotics or have special creams and be miserable because she's so itchy!!!
...so VERY thankful for the healing and how these bestever 2-1 multivitamin and probiotic help my girlies. ❤❤🙏😍” #loveit ! #storiesofhope#guthealth#youngandold
