You know the feeling of hitting the glutes and hamstrings in all the right spots?? This exercise 🙏👇🏼👇🏼(that face at the end... I love these 😂)
☑️Begin with 8-12 reps (the hypertrophy aka muscle growth rep range) of full range of motion leg presses at a weight that allows you to go slowly and really contract the muscles at the top (Toes pointed out 👐🏼).
☑️At the bottom at the motion, hold for a moment and push up with the heels, careful not to lock the knees as you reach the top.
☑️Following your full range reps, hit the bottom half with 8-12 pulses, focusing on feeling it in the glutes rather than the quads.
☑️End with 8-12 reps of the top range of motion, looking for that same feeling by pushing through the heels.

Since my concussion, I’ve really struggled to squat with a bar close to my neck. Luckily there are always alternatives for targeting certain muscle groups- in this case, the glutes!
Using a landmine with a plate in this squat variation really allows you to focus on the range of motion and push up intentionally through the heels. Here’s a checklist for this exercise:
✅Unlock the hips first, followed by a bend in the knees
✅Keep your spine neutral
✅Down for a count of 2, brief hold, push up through the heels
✅Contract glutes at the top

Today calls for low-key activity and productiveness for this girl. I enjoyed the weekend, but now it’s time to get prepared for the new week and smash this week’s goals. Sometimes life throws you curveballs that put you behind or you tend to lose track of what you should be focusing on. When you reach that point, sit down and just breathe for a second, and reevaluate your priorities. Handle one thing at a time and get back on track.

It amazes me how well the human body masters adaptation. Whether you’re suffering loss or putting in your first few days into a workout routine or just dealing with this New York winter like me, your body will find ways to adapt. As long as you give it time and consistent attention, growth is inevitable-- and there’s so much beauty in that. You may not like hearing that “it just takes time,” but that’s how growth works. For instance, I love the place that I’ve come to with my body. I used to workout twice a day, six times a week to get to where I wanted to be, but now I’m a free spirit in the gym; I do what my body calls for and I go with the flow-- and probably workout half as much too. It’s unbelievable considering I didn’t even think I could achieve this look two years ago, but here I am. It’s always a dogfight in the beginning, but know you will persevere if you continue pushing through. And that’s with anything: what has you feeling lost, broken and lonely now will be the very place you draw strength and wisdom from a year from now. Stay with it. Stay strong. And keep p.u.s.h.i.n.g! This is what 17 weeks of cold hard slog looks like. Through employment changes, a stressful household, a battle to conquer an unanticipated return of anxiety, healing bulging discs, a very challenging rally season, a cup spilling over with chaos and over commitment and my well known habit of saying yes when I should say no.
This is what 55.5cm less body fat probably looks like. Gone. I don't know where it went!
This is what hard work looks like. It also looks like tears and actual heartache and sweat and chasing protein goals and counting macros and logging food in restaurants before eating it. And carbs, blessed carbs! It's freezing fucking cold winter mornings and early walks around rally service parks in the middle of nowhere! Healing my mindset and making it stronger.
Callouses from the barbell and more tears and books and early mornings and occasional late nights. This is long range thinking and long term goals with short term wins. Resilience. This is a tape measure and a camera. Podcasts and knowledge and nutrition. Discipline. New habits. Fun! Consistency. Patience. Sustainability. Good choices. Movement. Energy. Sleep. Feeling AMAZING!
This is what a numbers game looks like.
This is NOT what deprivation looks like. This is not (always) broccoli. This is not cheat meals or restriction or 'clean eating' or other such wankery. I go without nothing. This is NOT what losing weight looks like, because I haven't lost much of that at all. I use scales to weigh my food, not measure my relationship with gravity.
This is definitely NOT cardio! Not burpees. It's not 'fitspo'. Find your own way. I compete only in the car and on the gravel and even then, only because I love it. This game is the same and just like rallying, this shit is really hard some days. But I love it.
It really is just You vs. You.

I've lost so much strength since my back injury (right side was this morning). I'm working on getting back to where I was on left! I can do this.
This evening I did arms 💪🏻 and my favourite exercises were: 🔹French Press (triceps)
🔹Single Arm Cable Lateral Raises (deltoids)
🔹Single Arm Cable Biceps Curls (biceps)

Can I just say how much I hate the impact that social media has on my thoughts? I see ppl posting condescending comments on the weight on the bar and reps performed etc, and I feel like it’s making fun of me for writing out what I do. I am always scared of judgement “oh, she’s just bragging..” or “ who gives a shit what your working weight is, no one even knows if it’s set x reps or vice versa , just get the work done, you shouldn’t be doing it for likes, stop saying “hey look at me..”. I like being able to look back 1, 2, 3 years and know what I was doing, how I’ve improved, etc. What’s wrong with people doing that anyways? Does it bother you that much that people like to keep up with how they progress? And even if they are doing it for #instafame so %*#^**^ what?! At least they are putting in work. People always have shit to complain about. Why don’t you worry about yourself for once? Why don’t you try to instill the change you hope for. Don’t talk about it, be about it. Spread love on other people’s pages. Uplift one another. Stop being assholes. You all are sharing a passion, why don’t you show how awesome it is and the parts you love about it rather than all the negativity? I second guess my posts every day now, I’m almost to a point that idk why I even do hashtags or anything else. No one really gives a shit...except me.
