Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China Tea Post Part V (scroll through the images and videos to see more) - Yunnan is one of the tea capitols of China (especially for sheng and shu puerh tea). Due to this, daily life in Xishuangbanna consisted of drinking lots of delicious teas. Our hosts, the potters of the Bagongshawan Dai Pottery would have tea sessions at least three times a day. While enjoying many classic post-fermented and aged sheng puerhs were the norm, we often enjoyed teas brought by visiting artists and tea-lovers from Europe, America (such as @erikduemig and So Han Fan of @westchinatea in Austin, Texas, and potter @m.e.cotterman whose beautiful tea wares we used in a tea session), and other parts of Asia, including a fresh and bracing Japanese Shincha green tea, a fruity and perfumed loose leaf Dancong oolong, red tea, and even herbal tisanes such as Luo Han Guo fruit tea and ginger tea made with lemon, ginger, and red sugar. It was truly an amazing education on just how beautifully integrated tea and herbal remedies are in China. Everyone had their own infusion styles that slightly altered the flavor of the tea they were preparing. Even though some people infused the same tea, they would alter the temperature, infuse it longer, or pour slower, all of which changed the flavor and textural consistency of the tea. A true testament to the variety that can be achieved with this amazing drink! I don't usually advertise my goods but I looked at this cute little set up and saw how so many amazing places helped me make this and it wouldn't be fair if I hogged all the credit for myself. So here it goes:
Yunnan Sourcing Tea: Wild Tree Purple "Sweet Ya Bao" Spring 2017 from @yunnan_sourcing . One of my favourite teas from last year. So good! #tea#cha#yunnansourcing#ilovetea#tealover#chinatea#yunnan
Verdant Tea : The tea boat, coasters, strainer and pitcher are a recent addition to our tea paraphernalia from @verdanttea . They have amazing teas as well. We get a monthly subscription from them of teas from small farmers. Some of these teas are so rare, you can only get them from these guys. They work with some amazing tea masters. Check out their youtube channel. You'll see what I'm talking about.
Harney Teas: The candle- Cashmere scent- smells amazing and the three tea glasses. I am very fortunate to have this amazing company @harneyteamillerton @harneyteas with a plethora of teas right at my doorstep and also to have worked for them where my passion for tea was allowed to flourish and be nourished. Although I'm not drinking their tea in this picture, don't be fooled. They are my quick goto for a number of amazing teas like #korakundah , #lungching#kairbettafrost , #darjeelingtea , etc etc. And lastly if anyone is curious, * A miniature Cyclamen flower: A surprise gift from my darling Drezzykins that he bought at @kamillas_floral_boutique
@kamillasfloralboutique in Millerton, NY and the faux String of Pearls as well. They have the most amazing collection- always. * Pottery is from @turinclayworks . I found this beautiful pot made with a special technique at the #dutchesscounty Art & Craft Fair last year. They are from Maine I think. Their workmanship is remarkable. * Toad- this cute little guy is something we carried all the way from #darjeeling . He's our #teapet
