Zeyrek Cami (Pantokrator Kilisesi)
Yapi aslinda yan yana yapilan uc ayri kiliseden olusmaktadir. Kiliselerden ilki, 12. yuzyilda Imparatorice Irene tarafindan yaptirilmistir ve Pantokratos Isa'ya (Evrenin hakimi) adanmistir. Guney tarafindaki bu yapi, hac seklindedir.
Sevkatli Meryem'e adanmis Kuzeydeki ikinci kilise, Imparatorice Irene'nin olumunden sonra kocasi Imparator Ioannes II. Komnenos tarafindan yaptirilmistir.
Sonra, bu iki kilisenin arasina, bas melek Mikail'e adanmis, Komnenos'larin mezar sapeli olan St Michel sapeli eklenmistir. Imparatorice Irene ve Imparator II. Komnenos buraya gomulmustur.
Istanbul'un fethinden sonra, Fatih kulliyesi yapilana kadar bir sure medrese olarak kullanilmistir. 15. yuzyilda burada ders veren molla Zeyrek'in adi verilerek camiye donusturulmustur.
This building actually consists of three churches built next to each other. First church was built in 12th century by Empress Irene and was devoted to Pantokratos Christ (Ruler of the universe). This building is located on south side and is shaped as a cross.
Second church is located on north side and was built by Emperor Ioannes II. Komnenos after the death of his wife Empress Irene.
Later on, St Michel chapel was built in between the two churches and Empress Irene and Emperor II. Komnenos was burried here.
After the invasion of Istanbul, it was used as a madrasah. In 15th century, it was converted into a mosque, taking the name of the preacher Zeyrek.
