I wasn't even planning on hitting the gym today. I have big news coming up tomorrow afternoon and I was just going to take the weekend off to be with my family and pick back up Tuesday with deads. Well plans changed and I ended up in the gym anyway!

I ended up surprising myself big time with this jump in weight compared to last week. I haven't hit anything close to this since my last competition and holy f**k I'm stoked! 545 lbs up just like that at the end of the workout. All that was going through my head was "give me that s**t!"

I'm closing in on the record for my gym, but that's not what I care about, I want those 6 plates! I'm also close to it for bench press as well!

My goal hasn't been to be the biggest and strongest in the gym, but I do enjoy pushing my body to its limits and beyond. I want to be well rounded in all events with the big 3 and still be an APFT stud hitting 270+ (army PT max is 300)

#flexfriday and here are my meals from today so far. Started with the preworkout meal of a quest bar and a rice cake. Hit my post workout meal with a protein shake/creatine and oatmeal/egg whites, and for lunch I had the always delicious chicken breast with squash, zucchini, onions and jasmine rice drenched in hot sauce. After 3 meals I'm still looking at 1700 calories for the day to get in. The mid day snack is gonna be a peanut butter and jelly because I'm craving one like crazy 🀀 dinner has gotta be stacked though. Eat big to lift big πŸ’ͺ🏼

This is how my mornings have been looking lately at 4 am trying to get fueled up for clients and the weights after. It's been a struggle with the wake ups, our son going through his 4th leap (if you're a parent you know what I'm talking about, if not just know it's practically hell on earth at night πŸ˜…) and balancing everything else out. Been taking 2 scoops of fuel every morning with some NO3 for some sick pumps. I put about 5grams of creatine in as well to help with adding mass and muscle recovery. Energy is through the roof with my workouts. Probably have GDA to be thankful for as well since it's using all the carbs from my preworkout meal towards the gains. Joint mobility is self explanatory. I take it prior to working out (4 capsules) and my joints feel smooth compared to other days I don't use it. Check the link in my bio for all these awesome products πŸ’ͺ🏼

Today I ran a poll of curling in the squat rack. I did so after this lift because almost once a week I see someone in there doing curls with almost nothing on the bar. Discussing with friends we came up with the starting weight had to be a minimum of 45s on the barbell (135 lbs) to be acceptable to curl there. After seeing some votes I see no matter how big you curl it's never ok πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ guess I'll continue doing my thing away from the rack

This week I've been hitting the weights early because of training clients and work and honestly I'm loving the early start to the day and getting after them gains πŸš‚ the morning crowd at the gym are great people as well and I always have a spot so it makes me feel a little more confident in pushing to uncomfortable limits. This is 415 which again haven't come close to this since July. Makes me want to do a reassessment on my maxes just because of how well weight is moving in my last set and fatigue setting in. Gotta push the limits everyday and go after what's yours. Nothing is given in life and you gotta jump into things sometimes regardless of what the outcome may be. Eat big to lift big πŸ’ͺ🏼

Y'all seriously, who doesn't love chicken, avocado and rice. It's the perfect combo for food hitting all macros and very low calorie in my opinion ~500. If you're looking to drop weight and still have tasty foods try this out. I gotta have this at least once a week, I add in tons of snacks throughout the day though to stay satisfied and continue the bulk πŸ’ͺ🏼

Just a dude working on building his little shoulders into boulders. It was a solid back and shoulders day. Went after it hard and fast before work and training clients early this morning. I focus my back days in two where one is focused on exercises building thickness (like today) and the other building width. My chest days are separated too into days focused on the heavy push and density and the other focused on the stretch and squeeze. Look into doing some splits like that. There are so many variations of exercises out there. Find out what works for you! Eat, lift, and get big πŸ’ͺ🏼 also some what of a rep #pr I believe for standing shoulder press (static) of 165 for 6 after already doing 5 sets working up to this. I wonder if I could get the 2 plates on that boy πŸ€”

So it is #internationalchestday and I had a solid day at the gym. I had a very humbling experience and luckily I had a spotter. This is a failed attempt of hitting 325 lbs as my last set. Some key takeaways that I should have known:

1. Volume (high reps) and heavy weights don't mix
2. Always have a spotter when benching 90% plus of your max
3. Readjust sets, reps, and weights of bench towards building strength and hypertrophy other lifts

Positives of today is that I did hit 205 for 20 reps and 305 for 4. All together prior to this lift I did 75 reps of bench which is a lot to do when approaching a max. I'm looking forward to getting at this next week already and I love a challenge and having to reevaluate my approach. Until then I'll continue to eat big and get big πŸ’ͺ🏼

Tonight was a pasta kind of night and man do I love me some spaghetti. We unfortunately didn't have any garlic bread so I just toasted up some bread and smeared "fake" butter on it. You just can't beat spaghetti. Definitely at the top of my list in the run for number one with lasagna. What's your favorite pasta? Eat big and get bigger πŸ’ͺ🏼

My refuel and recharge day will be tomorrow and my body can use it after this week of going balls to the wall on the weights. I'm pumped about where my strength is and I'm glad to see the added calories have not lead me to gaining a significant amount of weight (roughly 2-3 lbs so far). I am doing steady state cardio on the stair master every other day for 10 minutes post workout. I'll keep y'all posted πŸ€™πŸΌ
