Parent tip: unplug when dropping/picking the kids up from school or daycare.
I have recently become aware of how much I have been on my phone when picking up the kids after their long day.
As an entrepreneur I am always hustling and there isn't really good time to do this at. When the phone rings, you answer it, right?
Well, what this was doing to my children was not cool.
My son felt like he couldn't find a time to talk to me.
I thought.. dam he's right! Maybe thats why they are always interrupting me while I'm on the phone.
I can't control when my phone rings but I can control when I answer it.
So during drop offs or pick ups, I do not go on my phone.
I make that time about them!
Answering questions, hearing about which friend did what and what friends had for lunch, what the teacher wore and why she wore it, wicked soccer/basketball moves that was done at recess or all the craziness that happened at school.
I also fill this time with car dance parties or planning our day/evening!
Put yourself in their shoes, how do you like to be greeted by the one you love the most? Imagine the smiles you will get!
Parents give it a try and greet them phoneless!

I have learned a lot over my adult years about love. But it did take my stubborn ass a long time to really see the lessons that were being taught.
It wasn't after I lost my father almost 7 years ago that I really starting looking at what I was holding onto all those years!
It wasn't easy to admit I didn't love myself and that I wasn't loving others who loved me the way they deserved!
If I admitted that, I would have to admit all the reasons I was angry with myself. And admitting that I would have to admit the hurt and pain that I endured. And the truth of my hurt and pain is what I was running from.
I had to make that choice to love myself not only for the great things about me but the flaws as well.
The moment that choice was made, and the work was done, my love grew. It grew for myself and the ones that loved me even through my hard times.

I always tell her... "your face can only get her so far... get further with the beauty inside"
