Sometimes this app leads you to believe if you're not model-photogenic, in an on-display madly-in-love relationship, or traveling to exotic locations and summiting mountains every single day, your life isn't as good as everybody else. Well that's just a bunch of bullshit. Remember, social media is full of posed, photoshopped facades and you aren't alone in the fact that it leads to unhealthy comparison. The more time we spend on our phones wishing we had this or that, the less time we have to be who we want to be. Don't fall into that trap. Go outside, get some fresh air, and remember that online perceptions aren't always real. What matters more? How much fun it looks like you had, or how much fun you ACTUALLY had?

These are my favorite nights. No tv. No phone. Nothing to do but relax and appreciate the present moment with present company.

Our goal? The biggest peak in the background. At 11,929 Mount Nebo is the tallest mountain in the Wasatch and one I wanted to tick off my list....but, we didn't even come close. A late start (😣), too much ice and snow, and no way was I going up that without spikes on my shoes. It wasn't all a loss though. In fact, Charlie was having the time of his life, and just watching him run around like a goofball made it worth it. AND the drive. The Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop is going off right now 🍁. Guess I'll be returning to tackle this one another time.

I love everything this photo exudes. Nothing could stop us. Not bushwhacking. Not 8 hours of rain. Not our grumbling bellies or aching backs. We just spotted our next camp and a huge turquoise lake down in the valley below, and boy we're we stoked.

Last week I took my folks and Dutch relatives kayaking for the first time, and showed them what a day of flat-water padding is all about. Feet up, @budlight in hand, and nothing but sunshine. If you swipe left 👈🏼 to the next photo, you'll see my dad has quickly mastered the art. Big thanks to Bud Light for sponsoring our adventure! #FamousAmongFriends #partner

Home sweet home. 🏡 I just got back to Salt Lake City and after 5 months of nearly non-stop travel, I'm setting up shop here for another winter. I got a little basement apartment with Ryan and @charlietheadventuredog at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, just 8 miles from @altaskiarea & @snowbird. I'll be splitting my time between skiing (My goal is to get 80 days in this winter), working on an e-book I want to launch next spring, and writing up everything I did this summer on the blog. I've also got some changes coming up with my Sprinter van that I'll be sharing soon. I'm excited to slow down a bit, to catch up on life, and to call this mountain community home again.

Charlie totally killed it on his first backpacking trip a few weeks ago. 33 miles, 4000+ feet of gain, and he even carried his own stuff -including a collapsible water bowl, @wellnesspetfood freeze dried treats and kibble, and a shovel (turns out you're supposed to bury dog-poo in the backcountry too). I'm going to be writing a blog post sharing some of the things we learned about backpacking with a dog, so let me know what questions you have!

I just published a post about how to 💩 in the woods and leave no trace. I obviously don't have a picture of me doing my business, so instead here's a photo of a pretty waterfall in Canada. Seriously though, if you or your friends are new to the outdoors, going #2 outside and packing out your TP takes some knowledge and skill. My new blog post teaches you why it's important to pack out TP and how to do it without feeling gross. Got questions? Don't be afraid to ask!

What makes you feel truly alive? Are you making enough time for whatever that is? It's so easy to get complacent, spending your free time running errands, watching tv, or staring at your phone. Then we tell ourselves we are too busy to do the things that really make us happy. It happens to me too, more often than this little app would lead you to believe. But we need to remind ourselves that our time on this beautiful planet isn't guaranteed. Wouldn't it be a shame if you spent you last day in life being a couch potato rather than diving into that icy water or going on an awesome hike?

Right now @backcountry is running a giveaway where a bunch of folks are gonna win $1500 in gear. All you gotta do is share a photo of you doing something that makes you feel alive & use the hashtags #chaseyourgoat & #goatworthy. Tag me too so I can see what you're up too!

Charlie and his pine cones. So damn cute...until he brings them in the tent and chews them up in your sleeping bag.

What's your favorite place you camped this summer? This spot on Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park was one of mine. We kayaked 15 miles get here, met a fun group of Aussies and drank a little whiskey and played a rowdy game of catch phrase around the fire. Share your summer memories in the comments! 🔥

I'm living proof that it's possible to build something out of nothing. Three years ago I stood on the summit of Mount Whitney. That day I made a commitment to myself to do whatever it takes be self-employed, in charge of my own life and schedule, and make more money than I could working for someone else. Today I'm thrilled to share an interview that ran on @forbes this morning where I talk about how I made it happen. With patience, grit, determination and a good attitude, you can accomplish your goals. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Thanks to everyone here for the support and being part of my story.

This is Lake Clark National Park. Even most Anchorage locals I talked to hadn't heard of it. There's no roads, no trails, and we didn't see a single person in 10 days. That in itself is pretty special. For more info on this trip, head to the blog where I've got a new trip report and YouTube video (in case you missed it earlier this week)
