Posting my skies for July 7 to 10. I swear I painted these on their respective dates. hehe 😊 Had a bit of help on that July 8 sunset. Funny story, after our art tambay i was so exhausted I decided to take a 20min nap around 5pm hoping to catch the sunset by 6. But when i woke up it was totally dark, heck it was 7:30pm! I slept thru the alarm. 😨 i had to crowdsource from my friends hoping somebody, somehow, had a picture of the sky (OF THAT SAME DAY for crissakes!!) What are the odds of that?! Hahaha. Very luckily my friend Angela's friend had taken this picture at the Bredco Port! I had to borrow it. 😆 I was extremely grateful, to say the least. 😂 and so relieved! So far I haven't missed a day.
Whew. Swipe left for solo pics. 😉
Yesterday's art tambay output. First time to paint something like this. Pleasantly surprised at how fun this was. :) Sir Ed sure knows how to make us work out of our comfort zones. Lol i feel like i was making a christmas card. 😂
Forgot to post my sugarcane truck painting. Finished a few weeks ago. Im happy with how this turned out, despite the overworked mountains. 😕 Anyway, im actually showing you guys the "stars" behind my paintings. This is my process, of sorts. I always have a photo reference. Like 100% of the time. I cant draw without one, i swear. Sadly, Im not one of those artists who can draw from imagination. I manage because I use a grid as a guide for proportion, a greyscale photo for value-checking, I swatch my paints esp the greens because i premix. And I erase. A LOT. Hahaha. Im chummy with my kneaded eraser. 😂 It honestly takes me quite a while to finally get the under drawing right. Ive heard a lot of artists saying that one should paint spontaneously and freely, and I admire that. But Im also ok with the fact that Im not on that level yet. So far away from it, actually. Haha. But I am moving. Slow but moving is still my mantra. Its so easy to feel "small" amidst all the amazing works being posted on IG, but I am trusting MY process. That thru practice I will get there, however long it takes. 😊 And I hope so will the rest of us aspiring artists/watercolorists.
Hahaha di naman obvious na passionate ako sa wc, noh? 😂

Grateful for the amazing first half of 2017. So many discoveries and new like-minded friends. 😊 Im ready for the second half now. 😆
-Paintings are skies no.1 and no.2 of my #skiesofjuly challenge.
July is World Watercolor Month! 😄 In celebration, Im embarking on my first ever personal wc project. So... the plan is to paint the sky every single day on a postcard for the whole month of July, hence #skiesofjuly .😶 If I complete all 31 days, Im having them framed together. Fingers-crossed I dont miss a day. 😊 Goal is to be more adept at capturing skyscapes and to paint faster. Feel free to join me! #skiesofjuly#worldwatercolormonth#worldwatercolorgroup
Catching up on my leaf journal. 😊 Too bad I wasnt able to paint the leaf while it was still fresh. 😞 It was this amazing blend of pink and green. I tried to recall the colors best i could. 😶Locals call it the Variegated Lampunaya. 🐛
