Watched an extremely disturbing and powerful documentary last night that confirmed what I can vouch for in my own experience... yet there isn't nearly as much hype about in the media as saturated fat/fat: sugar is evil...and I don't mean fruit of couse, I mean that it is added to nearly every single item of processed food you buy.
Even a simple piece of "healthy" whole wheat bread has 3 tsp of sugar (in a lot of cases high fructose corn syrup, but neither is better) Educate yourself and listen to your body! And do your best to fight it in your kids. #thatsugarfilm#gourmet#gourmeteveryday#homemade#cookathome

I was inspired to share this today after a great, sweaty #yoga class with @karriecrowther ...every day is a practice, the mat being just a little part.
I'm continuing to reflect on a theme that's coming up for me lately around whether I'd like to teach on a more regular basis again, why we come to the studio (I'm on year 25 of on and off attendance at studios while maintaining a home practice) the proliferation of studios, teachers and yoga culture in America...unfortunately not all good.
Spent an hour of the last day of 2017 moving, breathing and sweating on my mat. With it came a revelation and maybe I'll give a more eloquent voice to this concept at some point but...some people are like a cancer... constantly negative because they are so miserable in their own life and love to wallow in it, blame others and do nothing to try to improve their own situation. They try to make everyone around them as miserable as they are. It's easy for empathetic people to be affected by negativity. You can't change the miserable person but you can control your reaction to their craziness. You can also spread your goodness and shine to the world and that is the perfect intention for 2018! #yoga#fitlife#intention#whybaptisteyoga#gratitude "Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." ~Marianne Williamson @mariannewilliamson
