I sometimes get discouraged with the state of our nation's health care. In 2016, over $10,000 was spent PER PERSON in our country on healthcare, yet we are one of the least healthiest countries in the world. When ranked with 10 other "wealthy" countries, we came in last on health.
It's easy to point fingers at our government, at Big Pharma, at our food industry, but it's harder to ask the question, "what can I, as an individual, do to improve our nation's health?" My answer is to start with myself, my family, and those God places before me. One meal, one walk around the block, one healthy choice, one person at a time. Small steps lead to big transformations.
What small step can you take to improve your health?
My girl had a bit of a startle last night while away from home. She's fine. Everything is okay, but God impressed this on my heart last night. My daughter and her friends are Seniors this year. Next year, at this time, they will be away at college, and no matter whether she is 6 hours away, or 5 minutes away, I can't protect her. There is only One who can do that. So, I pray, and trust, and put my faith in Him, while embracing my girl's last year at home.
My fellow SIBO sufferers may share in this thought. Although my SIBO symptoms worsened dramatically over the summer, I now believe this condition has been going on for many years. It is only since my Functional Nutrition training this year (thank you @andreanakayama !!!) that I have been able to put a name with this constellation of symptoms I have been experiencing.
Although my SIBO-D symptoms exploded (pun intended) at a terrible time, 2 weeks before leaving on a mission trip, I am thankful for this flare that sent me looking for treatment options.
Now after 2 rounds of Xifaxin, my symptoms are much more manageable! My plan is to finish up with this round of herbal antibiotics to deliver a final blow to this SIBO monster. And, for all of you dealing with gut dysmotility, I recommend trying Iberogast. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis years ago, and I wish I had known of this product then!
Prayers to all of you trying to manage your SIBO! It is a monster, but keep fighting, and embrace hope!
