Lovely morning at the Marche Bastille! Fresh produce, cheese, bread, meats, fish, and flowers. With over 115 vendors, it’s one of the largest markets in the city 🇫🇷
Just in time for Halloween - visiting the Catacombs of Paris. Formerly limestone quarries, they were converted during the 1700s-1800s to a final resting place for over 6 million people. (Over-crowding and disease made the extant graveyards in the city a serious health risk.) In the late 1800s they served as a (pretty morbid) event space; currently they serve as a museum open the the public. 🎃👻
Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land... Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.” (Deuteronomy 34:1-4)
Pretty amazing to stand where Moses once stood, looking over to the promised land — especially as the view hasn’t much changed!
