Stoked that @simmonsdavin guided me around Frank Slide last weekend. We probably walked more than most boulderer would want to but Davin showed me some rad stuff! Some old classics, plus some new blocks that are still being developed!
Here Davin does a quick lap at the end of the day on "Tetris" V4 at the Tetris Boulder. A new but very quality line.
Rad day on the rocks out at Frank Slide. Hard to comprehend how many boulders there are here. Thanks Davin (@simmonsdavin) for showing me around and taking this rad shot 📸 of me taking down this cool compression line "Sunspot".
Crazy hot and dry summer.
Wildfires have bin sweeping across BC and this dry weather doesn't seem to be going away, with nothing but sun and no rain in the forcast.
Today all the back roads in the East Kootenays have become closed to the public. This is detrimental to anyone wanting to enjoy the outdoors (climbers, hikers, hunters...)
Here is a shot of the Lamb Creek fire last Monday when it was less than 1 hectare, now it is over 200 hectares and has put over 170 local residents on evacuation notice.
Thin, Technical movement on sharp holds makes up the majority of the climbing at the Cedars.
Here Lee (@petegordabeach) tip-toes through the crux of "Scissor Me Xerxes" on the far left side of the crag.
My first Milky Way sighting of the season! Better late than never.
Had a laid back, semi recon mission to Dr Creek but after a exploding tire malfunction, washed out dirt roads and two little savages to look after, we didn't quite make it to the trailhead.
But I got this sweet photo!
Gord Mcarthur (@gord_mcarthur) world class athlete and professional climber, taking his craft to the next level! With a huge new first accent right here in the East Kootenays.
Gord has set a new standard for Drytooling with the first accent of "Storm Giant" D16.
I have witnessed first hand Gord pouring everything he has into this multi year project. It is hard to fathom the shear size of this route, needing two ropes/ belayers to climb 85m while clipping 50+ Quickdraws all in a completely horizontal roof!
Huge congrats! Truly inspiring!!
Beyond stoked to hear Evan (@bcbedouin) and his climbing partner Colin have successfully climbed Super Unknown (pictured right). They scaled this 1600m giant in 5 days camp to camp! Adding another top notch Bigwall to the Daniels River Valley!
Sacred Stone 5.10 A1 VI 1600m
What a huge undertaking and massive accomplishment! You guys are living legends in my books!
Trav coming into the second crux of Poppa Smurf 5.12- at the cedars. I put this line up earlier this spring and have bin dying to photograph someone on it.
It's just one of those climbs where the movement and ascetics of the climb will have you daydreaming about coming back for the redpoint!
