I grew up with a great life. I know that seems conceded to say, but it is honest. I grew up in the mountains and with this view in sight at all times. My mountains have changed to those of the Wasatch but I still continue to grow in the mountains. They make me stronger and happier than anything. I grew up with a great life and I still have a great life 😊

My @salomon shoes took me up a 1700 foot mountain in New Hampshire last week and to a high alpine lake here in Utah yesterday. Oh the places I go....💚

As much as it pains me to be away from Thomas and the dogs I am always grateful for the time I get to spend with my family back in New England😁

“Industrial tourism is a threat to the national parks. But the chief victims of the system are the motorized tourists. They are being robbed and robbing themselves. So long as they are unwilling to crawl out of their cars they will not discover the treasures of the national parks and will never escape the stress and turmoil of the urban-suburban complexes which they had hoped, presumably, to leave behind for a while.” ― Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

On the airplane yesterday I sat reading a book with a slight sway as we glided through the air...i never have found planes very natural so turbulence when I am up in one gets my heart pounding. As I was going through my normal in flight thought pattern of 'oh goodness I cannot die now' I noticed a flickering of light in my peripheral vision. Turning to face out the window, we were popping up out of the clouds. That flickering light was the rays of the setting sun on fluffy clouds. Today was a perfect reminder that when life gets rough it can also become more beautiful... #explorewithheather

Thomas is such a sweetheart. He's worked all but one day in the past two weeks and he still offers to put a couple of camping bins, from my weekend trip, away for me. I don't know how I got so lucky with this one😉

Proud Dog Mom Moment: Maya has been having some fear based aggression issues when interacting with new dogs for the first two to five minutes when she meets one. Due to this her interaction with many other dogs has been minimal lately. We've been working hard on just ignoring other dogs and not nipping at them. I brought her camping this weekend with five other dogs, some she knew and some she didn't. She was able to run off leash and play with the other pups for two different hikes we did! I'm overjoyed with how great she was this weekend. Many more moments like this to come💜💜

"One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards." - Ed Abbey

If you want to set up your tent with this view you should head to the link in my profile for a good snapshot of what Havasupai Indian Reservation and backpacking down there is like😉

Even if two complete strangers joined us... there is nothing quite like hiking miles upon miles with start times of 3:30am and alarms set to 2am to make you become friends!
