Take time for you, you owe it to yourself! Sometimes you feel like, “I just need a break” right? Your body and mind get you through the day so, give it a chance to recharge. A chance to reset. A chance to balance. #restday#metime#relaxing#filteredfit
Only if you eat with sugary foods or carbohydrates especially in excess. The glucose initiates the pancreas to release insulin and signals the body for breakdown/storage. Muscle and fat cells open to store the nutrients. Not all macro breakdown can happen simultaneously perfectly or most efficiently the way we’d hope for. It’s just science. In a few hours after eating it releases glucagon so the liver can release glycogen. Glucagon initiates fat cells to release fatty acids for energy. Then it’s all for the muscle to breakdown for energy your body is telling you it needs. Pause and think when you’re hungry again after eating, am I starving to death or do I want food. Think, with this high fat food item, do I need sugar with it? Is there a better/healthier option? #food#nutrition#fitinspo#fat#fitideas#moreyouknow#healthychoices#filteredfit
Natural fat burning happens as our bodies are fasting...every night during sleep! Take advantage of that when you wake up and do some cardio in the morning. It doesn’t have to be for an hour, get in that target heart rate (around 60% of max) for 15-20 minutes. As we eat through the day and fill our glycogen storage, then do cardio for fat loss later in the day or night, you’ll have to use up your storage first before the body starts using the fat storage. #themoreyouknow#effectiveworkouts#weightlossjourney#fitinspo#cardioday#trainsmart#useyourbody#filteredfit
Over the past 15 years I’ve seen such a movement towards being healthy and functional training. Even more so a surge in online coaching. At the heart of it, it makes me so happy to see people doing what they love and people’s lives changing for the better. However, with my experience in training, rehab and manual therapy I’ve also seen my fair share of exercise induced injuries and injuries that could have been prevented. This very much so includes exercises done with good intentions! Just as if someone told you it’s ok to cross the road but you see vehicles zooming by, you have to make the right decision. Pause and think, am I doing this correctly, am I being shown the right way. Just because one looks healthy or has a look you want to achieve or gives a plan does not make it the right way for you all the time. There is a reason why we have education systems in place for #exercisescience , #athletictraining and #physicaltherapy . This is truly important to your well being as well as the results you want to attain. You are not invisible and it can happen to you. #qualityoverquantity#functionaltraining#exercise#healthcoach#fitness#fit#fitmotivation#exerciseismedicine#filteredfit#weightlossgoals#exerciseideas#fitnessplan
Did you know America is one of the countries with a high osteoporosis rate? It’s also one of the countries where milk is marketed to build strong bones and encouraged to drink even after childhood. Research was brought to you and funded by the ADA!! Milk is usually high in sugar and protein. Just because milk has calcium in it doesn’t mean your body will absorb it. In all actuality, you only absorb just over 30% usually. High protein diets have been shown to pull calcium from blood to neutralize the acidity it’s causing. With all “good” food and nutrients comes good and bad outcomes when in high or excess quantities. Food for thought when adding milk to cereal or oatmeal in the morning, having yogurt as a snack, incorporating cheeses at lunch, milk with your protein shakes and having ice cream for your nighttime snack. Moderation is the key to success. #foodforthought#educateyourself#milk#doesmilkdoabodygood#healthychoices#filteredfit#healthyeating#healthyfood#foodinspo
Lots of popularity cutting out certain macronutrients or keeping others high such as protein. Our bodies need it all fyi! What it doesn’t need is excess, foods low in micronutrients and at the wrong times. Digestion, stress, sleep, activity levels and how each person processes food at different rates all play vital roles. It takes 4-6 hours for food to fully digest, is it best to eat after a certain time for you? Most fat is used by the body at night. This process coincides with recovery and building muscle during sleeping. Get your body to work with you vs against you. Let filteredfit show you the way and HOW eating will help with...#weightloss or #gainingmuscle . #whentoeat#howtoeat#nutrition#mealprep#dinnertime#eating#mmm#nomnom#diet#filteredfit
Good and bad habits are hard to break! Craving Starbucks right now. I find on days like today going into work I want vs need. It’s comforting to have something hot and of course taste good to just sip on all night. I asked myself do I want or need it? Paused and thought how would I feel if I did have it. I chose to stick with water and a #shakeology Thanks @holister12 #doIwantorNeed#healthychoices#onedayatatime#goodhabits#filteredfit

How to reset yourself and maybe your metabolism to boot!
1. Adequate sleep

4. Fresh foods
5. Enough calories
#5 is the hardest for most I’ve seen but none the less, most important. Crucial actually. If our bodies are in too much of a deficit it will not lose as much as we might want. Who doesn’t want to eat more!? #reversedieting#calories#healthyliving#weightloss#fittips
