What is one of the best ways to keep three Junior Fishing Addicts occupied? Answer - Steal wife's nail polish, bring out a collection of lure blanks and let them get creative 🎣💥🐟😁👍😂 You know the future is in good hands when kids are excited to make their own #fishing tackle instead of watching TV.
G'Day Folks - I managed to get out on the water today and found dinner along with a number of other fish quite quickly. This mackerel fell to the Austackle 74mm Crash Crank in Gold Scale colour.
I launched at River Heads this morning, after dropping the kids at school. Birds were working the area and bait was being smashed up on the surface. I noticed that the rain has produced some nice pockets of cloudy water with a distinct colour change / line of dirty water noticeable through the Heads. I simply trolled a couple of lures from the ramp, across to black rock and then in and out of the heads following the dirty water line.
The tides are really moving currently, all fish were caught about 30 minutes either side of the top of the tide with less run. I noticed on my #Humminbird side imaging unit that schools of fish were holding mid way in the water column and about 5m out from the dirty water line on the clean water side and the majority were caught on the #Austackle Crash Crank which dives to approx 7m. Once the tide picked up speed the fish stopped chasing lures.
I hope this helps you catch a feed for dinner, as always thank you for your support and please, please make the time to get out on the water in the near future, the family will love it, you may even spot a whale.

G'Day Folks - FINALLY RAIN...YAY !!!!! It will be interesting this week to see how the bay, estuary, creeks and Mary river fish. If you do get out, let us know how you go. Hopefully it was enough rain to cause some decent run off, stir up some bait, maybe even get some prawns flicking.
Last week was all about exploring new creeks for myself, trolling lures as I slowly moved along. Where ever I found structure with my Humminbird side imaging unit that had slightly dirty water I found fish holding.
This nice cod smashed a Austackle Reaper 130 trolled at about 2 - 3 knots and running about 30m from the back of the boat the lure was tracking at around 3 - 4m.
I have been using Platypus Fishing Lines Super 100 Mono as a leader a lot lately, given the pre-rain pristine water clarity, the super 100 just disappears.
As the weather starts to change and heat up it is going to be time to start re-stocking tackle boxes ready for the surface feeders and speedsters which visit our waters. Make sure you check out Camping World & Compleat Angler Maryborough, there is literally loads of stock coming in after the AFTA trade show and of course some awesome lures on special currently, I will post some pictures up during the week of what is on offer.
All the best folks, again cheers for your support.
How has the #fishing been for everyone lately? I have found it extremely tough the last few days. The tides are small and the water is crystal clear, bait seems hard to find and the fish are timid. I have still managed a handful of smaller flathead each trip but they have been very hard work. Keen to hear how everyone else has gone.
My eldest, minus a few teeth, but, he can not stop smiling with his brand new 'Junior Fishing Addict' tee. If you have a Junior Fishing Addict in the family and want a Junior Fishing Addict Tee for them to wear, then head to The Fishing Bandit Shop at https://thefishingbandit.com/ #fishing#fishinglife#tshirts#outdoors#fishinglife#saltlife
G'Day Folks - The last two glorious days have consisted of #exploring new ground within the Great Sandy Straits. Crikey, we live in a wonderful place. I took the 440 Quintrex Renegade up through two very isolated & skinny creeks, which I have never explored before, as far as I could get her. Had to get out, wade through some points & pull her over a few obstacles, got stuck once or twice but found some awesome deep holes, a few rock bars & some new drains to fish come the warmer months.
This healthy 50cm #flathead was pulled from a shallow drain. He was seriously out gunned. I could see fish on the Humminbird 898cx hd side imaging unit & decided to drop a #Yakamito 95mm Viper Vibe rigged with size 2 Trokar trebles down to see what they were. I was using a Austackle 6-10kg Camo-Stik rod with a #Austackle 4500 Verto spinning reel spooled with 15lb Platypus Fishing Lines P8 braid with a Platypus Fishing Lines - US 30lb Stealth Leader, anticipating a decent sized winter barra or even a threadfin, NOT a 50cm flathead 😂😂🤣😁 #fishing#fishingfrasercoast#visitfrasercoast#exploringnewgrounds#addicted#adventure#outdoors#saltlife
G'Day Folks - I have had quite a few questions from people asking if Tiger Squid can be caught on the Fraser Coast from land based locations. The answer is yes..... and if you need proof, the below photo was taken just a few days ago from a land based location in Hervey Bay. This serve of fresh calamari fell to a #Yakamito PX squid jig which you can grab from any Compleat Angler store including Camping World & Compleat Angler Maryborough.
I am busily working on a short #youTube#video containing plenty of tips and tricks to help you catch a delicious Tiger Squid and am hoping to have it uploaded by this coming weekend.
G'Day Folks - It is a great time of year to head out on foot and target the large Tiger Squid which come in close to our shores with the cooler water, along the Fraser Coast. This is a short teaser for an upcoming squidding #youtube#video which I am working on. The squid jig used to entice this tiger squid is a Yakamito PX which is available from Compleat Angler stores, including Camping World & Compleat Angler Maryborough attached to 10lb Platypus Fishing Lines Super 100 leader, spooled on the Austackle M2500 reel which is mounted on a #Austackle 2-5kg 7ft Masterclass rod. Enjoy !!
Don't forget folks - There is over $200 worth of squiding gear up for grabs, this month at Camping World & Compleat Angler Maryborough. All you have to do, is 'like' the Camping World & Compleat Angler Facebook page, then head into the store, make a purchase and then put your details on a ticket, which is placed in the box. We will draw the winner, in store at the end of July 2017. Simple 🎊🎉💥😁👍 #fishing#fishingfrasercoast#adventure#outdoors#camping#boating#yakamito#yakamitolures
