Lake Harbour Man by Kali Peterloosie, nd. | Kimmirut (ᑭᒻᒥᕈᑦ), formerly Lake Harbour, is a community on Baffin Island in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut. Evidence suggests that Inuit settlements have existed in this area since 2500 and 500 BC. European contact in this area first occurred between 1000 AD to 1600 AD. In 1911, Hudson's Bay Company set up a fur trade post on the west side of the harbour when Ralph Parsons arrived at "a magnificent land-locked harbour" aboard SS Pelican.
