Done! I brushed on an orange simple syrup while warm, then glazed with a simple mix of powdered sugar, orange juice and vanilla. Next time I’m going to bump up the flavor by adding more cardamom and mixing orange juice in the batter along with the orange zest.
I just mixed up a loaf of orange cardamom bread. The second picture shows flecks of cardamom and orange zest. I’m going make a simple orange glaze for the top, and might make an orange syrup to brush on first. I used a recipe I found here, but I haven’t tasted it yet. https://www.barbarabakes.com/cardamom-orange-coffee-cake-loaf/. I changed it very slightly, so I’ll post again after it’s done and we’ve tried it.
How Emma felt after her pedicure today. She has purple glitter toe nails with a flower on each big nail. She chose the color herself, reminding me that purple is her favorite color. #granddaughtersarefabulous
All the gummies! Next time I’m going to boost the flavor a bit, make them more fruity. Great fun with Emma! Next up, vegan chocolate chip cookies after she wakes from her nap. Until then, a little knitting and rewatching the Great British Bake Off. Again.
Pay no attention to the horrid mess in the background. Emma and I just finished making gummies. I have to admit to being slightly skeptical of the flavor since they are a little brown from the Terra Greens. But we tasted the liquid and it’s pretty good. Hopefully they will set up quickly because we can’t wait to try them! Thank you for the recipe @hillarylamay 😘
The reworked rows. This is SO much better, and worth the time it took to take everything apart yesterday. I’m so thankful I have a bolt of the light color since I still need about 28 more squares. Time to cut them out and finish the rest of the rows. At least the white/light aqua rows didn’t have to be redone. 😄
When you think you’re making a buffalo plaid quilt but sew things wrong..... everything that needs to be undone has been. I’ll cut 48 squares tomorrow, which will take a lot longer to cut and sew than the strip sets did, but it will be done correctly this time.
The island is nearly finished!!! We will turn it upright tomorrow, as the hubby’s back is done for the day. After it’s upright, we will lay a sheet of plywood on top and then add the laminate. I’m so excited!!!
These are pieces for my new studio island that the Hubby is building. It’s 60”x72”. It will be done tomorrow, except for the laminated top, which won’t be in stock until Sunday or Monday. We are using a 30”x144” piece of kitchen laminated counter, which is exactly the right size when cut in 2 pieces. There will be shelves all around, except for one 60” side that I will store fabric bolts in. Total cost is under $300, which includes all the hardware. The idea came from @amanda_michelle2 . Have you seen her island? It’s awesome!!
Big reveal - 7 layer Italian cookies!! But there are really only 6 layers, unless you put chocolate on the other side. I’ve never had one, or made them before, but the hubby said they are spot on. I’ve loved reading your guesses!
