When your son is insistent that he is batman and must wear his cape to school. You allow him to be who he is and love him with every fiber of your being.
'You be You' my sweet Jaxen! #batman#disabilityawareness#shine
We all need time away. It's been a busy sometimes stressful summer with my husband's health & challenges that come from a family of 7 and all it's needs. When surgery worked and my husband's eyesight returned, he blessed me by telling me to go to my annual work convention. I have been filling my brain & heart with amazing education and learning so much that will bless my customers & my family. #workathomemom#selfcare#specialneedsmom
That Honeymoon stage of awesome behavior at school is gone. Jaxen has struggled with being overwhelmed and we have had to strategize some tricks for school. My biggest trick in my pocket is communication & love. We are so fortunate to have a learning teacher, Kinder teacher and aide that are invested in Jaxen being successful. So far our new heavy workout plus brushing is working and gives him the ability to quiet down. 💗 #sensoryprocessingdisorder#kindergarten#specialneeds
Sometimes on Sunday, in the midst of relaxing, we need to get the wiggles & jiggles out aka save mom's sanity! The kids love to ride bikes, scooters & rollerblade on our backyard circle sidewalk. Jax has great gross motor skills and the heavy roller blades are perfect for grounding him and letting him feel his body in space. #specialneedsfamily#sensoryprocessingdisorder#seetheability
Sunday is our Family Day. We begin our morning with church, then family dinner, relaxing time and then baths and lastly getting clothes & backpacks ready for school. I love our relaxing Sundays. It's a time when our family can refill spiritually, reconnect and rejuvenate for the coming week. How do you keep your family connected?
Jaxen was 100% Focused on completing his math activity independently. When he got it right he was so proud he pumped his fist in excitement! Celebrate your every success my son, each one will lead to another!💗 #seetheability#specialkids#specialneedsmom
Our kiddos work so hard to master each small task. Sometimes it's to have a 10 word vocabulary, sometimes it's to be able to put on their own socks, to be able to eat with a fork or to do math in their own. Celebrate each success.#specialkids#chromosomes#seetheability
Jax had a #2 accident at school. It was dripping down his legs in recess, my poor sweet boy. If your kiddo comes home and shares that this happened to a child in his class - because it can - this is not limited to happening to only special kiddos. Please use it as a learning opportunity for compassion, love and understanding. Share what compassion looks like, share how when he comes back from the nurse a simple smile and hi can create joy and release embarrassment. Compassion: learn it. teach it. share it. #specialneedsmom#teachthemwhiletheyareyoung#compassion
Draw your circle wide. Let people in. Give them the chance to love your kiddos, your family, and you. Empathy, love, understanding and Joy will overflow your circle and allow you to continue to widen it. #specialneedsmom#bethelight#letthemin
