Adding tiny highlight areas to the edge of some of the Eucalyptus leaves. These are finished now but I am sure I will find something more to tweak. It's the finer details that adds magic and brings the painting to life 🤗. SWIPE for progress stages of this section.
I have a painting to varnish but the wet, humid weather is stopping me and has brought me back to finishing this work. Worked on the Stock and rose in the shadows. More shadows on the Stock when this layer dries. See my next post for images from drawing to this stage.
This work has been drying, however I just need to tweak the lower left hand side as I don't like the greenish petals on the lower part of the Lizianthus. These gorgeous flowers from my reference shot were a birthday gift from a neighbour/friend and were from @cartierforflowers
Snippets of detail of my last painting for 2017. I will reveal the finished work in its entirety next week. 2018 I am starting the year off with a new work of peonies with fewer blooms, as larger flowers and some droplets of water as an extra challenge. I only have some fine tuning to complete on this work, mainly the Delphinium.
Finally varnished this painting...varnishing is the final touch to a painting but since having a disaster with Gamvar satin going streaky on me I have been waiting until I felt confident again. I decided, however, to use Gamvar gloss for this piece and I'm praying it is OK and can go off to the gallery in the New Year.
Snippets (detail) of some 2017 paintings. My New Years resolution for 2018 is to try not to be so critical of my work and maybe relax my style a little. 2018 also has an exciting opportunity which I will share nearer the time.
