10/11/17 - National Coming Out Day
Whoever and wherever you may be... I want to wish you a hope-filled, and love-filled Coming Out Day.
This country, this world, this life... it's all a bit wild and unpredictable, isn't it? And coming out as anything under the LGBT umbrella can still be scary, unsafe, unaccepted... Even in "progressive" communities. Even in 2017. And I struggle with this. Because in an age where we see progress and innovation all around us, people are still hurting because of who they are at their core, and the atmospheric messages that touch us every day.
It's heartbreaking. It's tough. It's defeating.
So I feel like all I can really say today is this: My wish for those out there who feel fear, doubt, anger, anxiety, or any of a hundred other jaded feelings... Is that somewhere you still carry hope that the future can be brighter. That you find the people who love you. That together we can create the world that we want to see. And that we can stand together to love harder than we hate.
Be kind. Be hopeful. Be loving.
I'm here for you. There are others who are here for you. And we're not going anywhere. ❤
This is Cece AKA the newest Veiga! She's been in our home for a week, and today was the first time she played with me!! 😍 She's slowly coming out of her shy-shell and hopefully coming to see this as home. The cats' responses have been neutral... Cleo seems to think she is cat... So overall, the adjustment has been going well. For a "senior" dog... She seemed to play as excited as a puppy. ❤🐶 #adoptdontshop#petsoutnumberpeople#itsadogslife
Last race in the T-Rex Triathlon series tonight. Happy to have seen my times improve little by little each month, setting new PR's on the course each race (and not going extinct!). Though, mixed feelings tonight as today's race seems to be an unofficial mark of the impending close of summer. Oh well... shiny finisher's medals to add to the wall. 👍😁🏊🚲👟#trilife#swimbikerun
